Most parents are constantly looking for creative ways to make their lives easier while keeping their children happy.

And now mums and dads from all over the world have shared their genius tips online – and Bored Panda collected a selection of the best examples in a gallery.

Queen Camilla will take a well-deserved break from work this week after holding down the fort since King Charles’ cancer was announced.

Her Majesty has a clear agenda and will take a private flight abroad tomorrow, while also making time for family in the coming weeks.

Camilla, 76, has taken on the extra burden since King Charles’ shock diagnosis last month, which saw him step back from his public duties.

Since Charles’ condition came to light, she has served thirteen official assignments. She continued with her own plans and only appeared at events intended for both the king and queen.

This included an engagement on Valentine’s Day, when Camilla went solo to Grosvenor House in London for an event celebrating Shakespeare, of whom the king, 75, is a lifelong fan.

She will resume work on March 11 for the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey, where she will lead the royal family in place of Charles, who will instead deliver a video message to mark the occasion.

Camilla was the last major royal to emerge last week, raising some concerns about who is in charge at a time when so many key royals are out of the picture.

Royal author Ingrid Seward told The Sun on Sunday that Charles allegedly insisted his wife take a break.

She said, “He’ll make sure she’s exhausted. Camilla has had the biggest concerns about her husband’s health, but she has also been the one adjusting to the busy schedule of royal engagements and wanting to be there for him and Kate while they both had their health issues. .

“She certainly deserves some rest and relaxation.”

It comes as the Princess of Wales, 42, continues to recover from abdominal surgery at home with the support of her family, having not been seen in public since Christmas Day.

Meanwhile, William, 41, was this week forced to pull out of the Windsor tribute to his godfather, the late Greek King Constantine, due to a ‘personal matter’.

While Camilla enjoys a well-deserved rest, William, the Princess and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are ready to take on their obligations as usual.

Camilla was the most senior royal to complete orders, with the king continuing to work behind the scenes on his red boxes and other official duties while he underwent treatment.

In what has become a typically busy solo schedule, Camilla last week led the royal family at the memorial service for King Constantine of Greece in Windsor, hosted a reception for the ‘500 words’ children’s writing competition at Buckingham Palace and met the first lady of Ukraine , Olena Zelenska, at Clarence House.

A royal source told The Sunday Times that while Camilla never expected to lead the royal family, she is “absolutely willing to do whatever needs to be done for the institution” and has been “supported” by the king since the king’s diagnosis public support.

It was also reported that Charles was ‘proud’ of his wife for keeping the show going.

Her public presence has also filled the void left by the highly publicized absence of the 42-year-old Princess of Wales, who was the subject of hysterical speculation on social media last week.

Kate is still recovering from abdominal surgery in Windsor and will not resume work until after Easter.

The implosion of online theories about the princess’ health swirled last week after William, 41, withdrew from King Constantine’s service at the last minute due to a “personal matter.”

He returned to work on Thursday, visiting a synagogue in London, before visiting Wales for St David’s Day on Friday.

In 2017, they wore pink hats to march on Washington, expressing to hundreds of thousands their anger toward Donald J. Trump.

They then wrested the House from Republican control, won the presidency and posted a surprisingly strong showing in the 2022 midterm elections, fueled by their belief that Trump and his allies posed a national emergency.

This year, anti-Trump voters are grappling with another powerful sentiment: exhaustion.

“Some people are burned out on outrage,” said Rebecca Lee Funk, the Washington-based founder of the Outrage, a progressive activism group and purveyor of resistance-era clothing. “People are tired. I think this past election we were desperate to get Trump out of office, and people were willing to get behind that singular call to action. And this election feels different.”

But for Democrats, the mission is similar: As he defends the White House, President Biden is seeking to reassemble that vast anti-Trump coalition, framing the 2024 battle as another fight to save American democracy while Trump is on his way to the Republican nomination.

However, Mr. Biden still has a lot of work to do. Interviews with nearly two dozen Democratic voters, activists and officials make clear his challenge in energizing Americans who are unenthusiastic about a likely rematch in 2020 Worried about his age, and in some cases they are struggling to sustain the searing anger toward Mr. Trump that Democrats have relied on for nearly a decade.

“We're kind of in a crisis situation,” said Shannon Caseber, 36, a security guard in Pittsburgh, who called the prospect of a Trump-Biden rematch a “dumpster fire.” She added: “It's certainly crisis fatigue.”

Ms. Caseber, a Democrat who would support Mr. Biden over Mr. Trump, added: “Any sense of urgency that we had in the 2020 election — I think it's still there in the sense that no one wants Trump becomes president, at least for the Democrats, but it is tiring.”

Democrats are hardly alone in their political fatigue: A Pew Research Center Survey Last year, 65 percent of Americans said they always or often felt exhausted when thinking about politics.

“Exhaustion underlies the entire attitude toward our presidential election,” said Whit Ayres, a veteran Republican pollster. 'If you have two people who are against it 70 percent of Americans who want a different choice, it creates frustration, fear and discouragement.”

But there are also pronounced warning signs on the left.

a CNN A poll recently asked how motivated Americans were to vote in the election. Republicans, out of power and eager to regain it, were more likely to say “extremely motivated.” a Yahoo News/YouGov survey asked voters last fall about their attitudes toward the 2024 election. Thirty-nine percent of Democrats chose “exhaustion” from the list of feelings offered (a close second to “fear”). Only 26 percent of Republicans chose “exhaustion.”

By and large, surveys have done just that showed erosion in the party stands behind traditional Democratic constituencies. On the left, some groups have warned financing problems and voter apathy, and the most visible source of energy on the streets is progressive frustration with Mr. Biden over his support for Israel.

Lauren Hitt, a spokeswoman for Mr Biden, said there had been tangible evidence of enthusiasm in recent weeks, including on the fundraising front.

She also signaled that the campaign's message would go beyond simply opposing Mr. Trump, drawing contrasts with Republicans on abortion rights and gun safety as she described the stakes of the election, and nodding to Mr. Biden's policy achievements on issues such as combating climate change and child poverty.

“This election will determine whether we build on that progress, or we will lose so many of our fundamental freedoms,” she said in a statement.

Many Democrats have argued that the party must do more to make a positive case for Biden's reelection, beyond just stopping Trump again. They also worry that some voters could vote for a third party this year or stay out altogether.

“They hear it every cycle: This is the most important election ever,” said Leah D. Daughtry, a Democratic strategist.

Although she views Mr. Trump as an “existential threat,” she said, “people want to vote for something and not necessarily against something.”

Max Dower, the founder of the clothing line Unfortunate Portrait, recently designed a $78 shirt that reflected his feeling of feeling “uninspired” about the election. It featured an image of Mr Biden, 81, using a walker to fend off the stick-wielding Mr Trump, 77, with the message: “Vote 2024.” He said it had attracted more engagement on social media than any design he had posted in about eight years (it also inevitably sparked political strife in his Instagram comments).

After years of feeling like the country was moving from one crisis to another, Mr. Dower, who said he voted for Mr. Biden in 2020, suggested he was burned out.

“We've had so many emergencies over the last few years: national emergencies, perceived emergencies, real emergencies – it's just kind of, that's not really a strong motivator for me anymore,” said Mr. Dower, based in Los Angeles. He declined to say how he would vote this year, but said he is unlikely to vote for Trump.

“Many of us would like something positive to motivate us,” he said. “Not just pure: do this, otherwise this bad thing will happen.”

To be sure, Mr. Trump is hardly a morning-in-America candidate. And while some have rejected him since he left office, he will be inevitable in an election year — which will remind voters, Democrats hope, of everything they've long disliked about him.

The former president, whose supporters attacked the Capitol in an attempt to overturn the 2020 election, has encouraged political violence, spread conspiracy theories and preached a dark nativist vision. He has sought to undermine US institutions and threatened to upend the international order, recently suggesting he would encourage Russian aggression against US allies.

“People will be more alert because Trump has become even more outrageous in his post-presidency,” North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, a Democrat, said in an interview last month. “It will be a challenge to make sure people are aware of what he does because I think sometimes he is so outrageous, so consistent, that there is a danger that it could become normalized. But I do believe that the stakes in this election will be so high that people will ultimately understand that our democracy is truly at stake.”

Leah Greenberg, co-executive director of the Indivisible Project, a progressive grassroots group, said her organization supported efforts for ballot measures that would protect abortion rights in key states. She also argued that full Democratic control of Washington could lead to meaningful abortion protections nationally.

“Burnout is usually a result of a feeling of powerlessness,” she says. “People are being activated to get our rights back.”

That kind of message resonated with Dorothy Stevenson, 64, of Milwaukee. She did not vote for president in 2020, she said, citing Mr. Biden's tough record on crime as a senator and worrying that he was not “really for black people.” Now, she said, she is not enthusiastic about her choices but plans to support Mr. Biden because she believes the stakes of the election are higher.

“It's really, really, really, really because of the abortion issue. I think they should stay away from women's bodies,” she said. Trump's potential return is, she says, “a crisis.”

Many Americans deny the prospect of a rematch between Trump and Biden. But as Trump moves closer to his renomination, some Democrats say their voters are beginning to understand the significance of his return.

Representative Veronica Escobar, Democrat of Texas and co-chair of the Biden campaign, said she had heard “some fatigue and some concern” in the recent past.

But after Trump won the New Hampshire primary, she said, “there's been a palpable shift. And it's what I hoped for. I hope we can keep it and grow it.”

In Washington, Ms. Funk of the Outrage suggested that some voters now “want to be reminded of what is good about this country.”

“It's been a long struggle,” she added, “for those of us who are in the movement.”

Ruth Igielnik reporting contributed.

A top nutritionist has revealed that more Australians are feeling burned out than ever before – and their diets may be partly to blame.

Susie Burrell, from Sydney, said 'quick fixes' like coffee, alcohol and sugar could do more harm than good and should instead opt for fresh foods such as tuna and salad or red meat and vegetables.

'How many people do you know who first drink coffee, sushi rolls and then a microwave meal or a take-away? There is literally little to no fresh food all day,” she told FEMAIL.

“Creating a space where you can order fresh food, know what to buy or cook once a week so you have fresh stuff nearby right away will improve those variables.”

Susie said burnout is different from general stress or clinical depression and that it occurs when people are so physically and psychologically exhausted that they lack empathy for others or feel like their lives are meaningless.

Sydney-based dietitian Susie Burrell (pictured) has revealed how your diet can lead you to burnout

She said focusing on eating fresh, whole foods like fruits, vegetables, red meat and foods rich in omega 3s is the best place to start when combating burnout.

'When we feel better in our bodies, we are psychologically better able to cope with the stresses and challenges that modern life brings.'

WHAT EXACTLY IS BURNOUT?

Susie said more and more women are starting to burn out juggling work, mothering and home life. She said it can be described as a kind of “psychological exhaustion.”

“Burnout is traditionally talked about in terms of a work environment where people are physically overworked and in many cases experiencing stress, but psychological burnout is a different concept,” she said.

One of the main symptoms of burnout is a lack of empathy or 'compassion fatigue'.

“You're almost oblivious to the emotions of people around you because you're so exhausted and not reacting the way you normally would,” Susie explained.

'Things that are normally emotional or that bother you no longer interest you. You have no natural empathetic support.”

There is also a feeling of general exhaustion and a 'lack of joy in life', where nothing brings you pleasure or joy the way it once did.

“Your mood is affected, so you wake up and you don't have the energy to do things you would normally do, and you struggle to get through the day,” the dietitian said.

'If you see it as energy investments; energy in and energy out. But when everything goes out and so little comes in over time, it's not a cognitive mood problem, it's a general level of fatigue.”

Susie said it's important, especially for busy moms, to prioritize feeding the body with nutrients to help you cope with the stress and challenges that everyday life brings.

Susie said it's important, especially for busy moms, to prioritize feeding the body with nutrients to help you cope with the stress and challenges that everyday life brings.

Another sign of burnout is feeling like you're not accomplishing anything or contributing anything meaningful, which Susie says is common in the workplace but also prominent in moms' homes.

“They go home and they feel like they're not doing a good job as a mother, or they don't go to work, or they feel like it doesn't matter whether they're (at work) or not,” she said.

Susie said burnout can get confused with stress or depression, and said there is no quick and easy fix to get yourself out of it.

'It's not a matter of just going on holiday or getting a massage, it's deeper issues that you have to work through. It's not about taking drugs and improving mood, it's not neurotransmitter instability,” she said.

“It's a physical psychological outcome of that level of exhaustion and emotional exhaustion.”

HOW CAN YOUR DIET CAUSE BURNOUT?

Susie said it's important, especially for busy moms, to prioritize nourishing the body with beneficial nutrients to help you cope with the stresses and challenges that everyday life brings.

'We start the day and the focus is never on ourselves. We worry about the children. The pets leave the house and go to work, so we often forget to feed first,” she said.

'The link back to self-care and what we eat is so strong because you can imagine that many people forget that what we eat every day provides our body and even our mood with the basic nutrients to function optimally.'

Susie said people often turn to processed “quick fix” foods, such as coffee, alcohol and sugar, which are convenient but not necessarily healthy.

“It's that quick kick all the time. You just grab a cup of coffee and it ends up affecting your hormones, then you gain weight and then you feel even worse,” she said.

Susie said people often experience burnout from dealing with

Susie said people often experience burnout from dealing with “quick fix” foods, such as coffee, alcohol and sugar, which are convenient but not necessarily healthy.

“It's the daily short-term hit, but it's actually undermining long-term profits.”

Susie said women are often deficient in key nutrients, which can leave them feeling like they have no energy.

'25 percent of women have low iron levels, but very few people get enough Omega 3 fats. Physically, we don't start the day well and are exhausted, and our hormones are out of whack,” she said.

“Then you're at that level of burnout, where you have no joy anymore, you leave the house angry at everyone, everyone irritates you, the people you love, your kids yell at them all the time. you have nothing left.”

HOW CAN YOU EAT YOURSELF OUT OF BURNOUT?

Susie said that for those feeling burned out, cleaning up their diet is a good start to rebuilding energy.

“It's kind of a three-, six-, 12-month rehabilitation process, but the first step is eating right,” she said.

“The first step for women is to look and say, 'Okay, how can I nourish myself to get back in touch with myself?' Because then you will of course be better able to see the positive, be more joyful and recognize that you are not feeling well.'

Susie said a green juice is a great way to start the day and give your body the nutrients it needs.

“It's not easy to make, but if you can buy one instead of coffee, there are huge benefits,” she said.

For an affordable, healthy lunch, she recommends a can of tuna, salads and ready-made meals from the supermarket.

For an affordable, healthy lunch, she recommends a can of tuna, salads and ready-made meals from the supermarket.

'Ready-made salads that you can now find in supermarkets are cost-effective and of good quality. Add a can of tuna or hot smoked salmon. That's a five-minute meal that's amazing,” she said.

'Many of the ready-made fresh meals in supermarkets that contain vegetables are also great.'

Susie said eating a filling, healthy breakfast and lunch before 1 p.m. will also help curb cravings for sugary over-processed snacks at 3 p.m.

She recommended fatty fish such as salmon, as well as nuts and seeds to give yourself a good dose of omega 3.

'If you have the opportunity to roast some vegetables once a week, cook a few pieces of salmon or chicken breast so you have them there. On some basis that will be a good starting point,” Susie said.

Susie recommended red meat because women are often low in iron, which makes them feel tired.

She suggested eating lean lamb chops with a ready-made salad or a lean burger patty or sausages with roasted vegetables.

“You have to create a system around your lifestyle to make it easy, it's not about adding more,” she said.

'It's about being more efficient with what you can handle. And we have to eat, but we might as well make the best choices we can.”

Susie is organizing a one-off event, From Burn Out to Best Selfto help women rebuild after a burnout.

Donald J. Trump may one day have to pay E. Jean Carroll the $83.3 million she was awarded, but that day is not today.

Mr. Trump called the jury's decision “Absolutely ridiculous!” and vowed to appeal the verdict, a process that could take months or longer.

And while he awaits an appeals court ruling, Mr. Trump doesn't have to write Ms. Carroll a check.

Yet the former president still has to pay something — possibly a significant amount — while he waits.

Trump can pay the $83.3 million to the court, which will hold the money while the appeal is pending. This is what he did last year when a jury ordered him to pay Ms. Carroll $5.5 million in a related case.

Or Mr. Trump could try to secure a bond, which would avoid having to pay the full amount up front.

With a bond, he might have to make a down payment and offer collateral, and that would incur interest and fees. It would also require Trump to find a financial institution willing to lend him a large sum of money at a time when he is in significant legal danger.

Although Mr. Trump likes to brag about his billions, much of his wealth is tied to the value of his properties, and he is loathe to give away large sums of cash at once.

And when it comes to his various legal fees – of which there are many – he tries to avoid spending his own money in the first place. Mr. Trump has tapped the coffers of his political action committee to pay for his own legal fees and other costs arising from his criminal charges and civil suits.

Yet $83.3 million exceeds the amount in his political accounts. Friday's verdict will require Trump to reach into his own pocket.

But if the verdict survives Trump's appeals, Ms. Carroll should ultimately be paid, said Bruce Green, director of the Louis Stein Center for Law and Ethics at Fordham University.

“He is the rare defendant with an $83 million judgment against him who actually has the money,” Mr. Green said. “Wherever this ends up, she should be able to collect it.”

He has enough cash to cover the judgment in several accounts, a person close to him said. In recent years, Trump has emptied several properties, including his Washington hotel, which was sold for $375 million.

Still, Friday's verdict isn't the only payout for Trump. New York's attorney general is seeking a $370 million fine from the former president and his family business as part of a civil fraud lawsuit concluded this month.

It is expected that the judge will rule in this case in the coming weeks. If Mr. Trump is ordered to pay hundreds of millions of dollars, it is unclear whether he would have to sell another asset to make such a payment.

Claire Fahy reporting contributed.

SUPERMARKET giant Morrisons has made a major change to all its stores, calling it 'a big deal'.

The retailer, which operates almost 500 UK stores, has installed seating areas in its branches for “anyone who needs a break in the middle of the store”.

A spokesperson for the chain said it made this change after feedback from customers asking for a place to stop and rest while shopping.

A customer recently posted on X, formerly Twitter, an image of one of the seating areas at their local branch in Dover, Kent, with the caption: “What a great idea.”

In response, Morrisons posted: “Do you need to take five? We have installed seating areas in our stores for anyone who needs a break halfway through the store.

“Sit down, have a chat and take as long as you need.”

The move is seen as a big positive by online shoppers, with one labeling it “a big deal” for struggling customers.

Another said: “Great idea, my mother has trouble walking.

“(I) saw the setup at your Belper store and took a few minutes to chat with a lady who was also shopping and take five while I sorted out the groceries. Great, helpful idea.”

And a third added: “That's great, my husband is on oxygen and needs to sit for a while. Hopefully someone will come and talk to him.”

It is not the first change Morrisons has made to its stores in recent years.

In June, then CEO David Potts announced at a cross-party committee chaired by MPs that the retailer would roll out some of its budget items from the Savers range to its Daily convenience stores.

It came as supermarket bosses faced criticism from ministers over rising food prices, with supermarket inflation at 16.5% in June.

The month before, Morrisons announced a major change to its loyalty program, replacing My Morrisons with its More Card.

Meanwhile, a number of other supermarkets have adapted their stores to accommodate shoppers.

In November 2021, Asda joined Morrisons, Tesco and Lidl in introducing “quiet hours” to their stores.

This keeps noises such as music and other noises to a minimum.

The concept is designed to help people with disabilities such as autism and anxiety.

Meanwhile, supermarket chain Booths announced in November last year that it would ditch self-service checkouts in a bid to improve customers' shopping experience.

Booth's managing director Nigel Murray told The Grocer that the supermarket was not a “big fan of self-checkouts”.

ZAPORIZHZHIA REGION, Ukraine – Under the cover of darkness, hunched over under the weight of backpacks and guns, a group of soldiers walked along a muddy road and slipped into a village house.

They were Ukrainian infantrymen from the 117th Separate Mechanized Brigade, who gathered for a final briefing and roll call several kilometers from Russian positions before heading to the frontline trenches. Bold men in helmets and rubber boots listened silently as an intelligence officer informed them of a new route to their positions.

“Morale is good,” said the deputy battalion commander, who uses the call sign Shira and stood nearby to see the men off. “But physically we are exhausted.”

Ukrainian forces along most of the 900-kilometer front line are officially in defense mode. Only in the southern Kherson region are they still on the offensive during a heavy attack across the Dnipro River.

But the fighting has not abated and Russian forces are now on the offensive.

With the capture of the town of Robotyne in the southeastern region of Zaporizhia, Ukrainian forces had failed to advance in their summer counter-offensive. No breakthrough occurred. Now Russian units attack in the trenches around Robotyne every day. Ukrainian forces will try to counterattack immediately if they lose ground, commanders said.

“It’s like a game of ping-pong,” said a platoon commander in the Ukrainian National Guard, who uses the call sign Planshet, which means “tablet.” “There is always a portion of 100 to 200 meters of land being taken and reclaimed,” he said.

Ukrainian soldiers and commanders interviewed along much of the central and eastern fronts in recent weeks said Russian attacks were so intense that operating near the front lines has never been more dangerous.

Russia has in recent days shifted its focus to bombing Ukraine’s major cities to exhaust civilians; For weeks, ground forces have been carrying out attacks to regain territory lost last summer and capture long-held Ukrainian redoubts along the eastern front.

Soldiers, well accustomed to Russian artillery fire, said they had suffered since March the added destructive power of glide bombs, half-ton explosives unleashed by planes crashing through underground bunkers.

“They sent them two by two by two, eight in an hour,” said a 27-year-old soldier known as Kit, from the 14th Chervona Kalyna National Guard Brigade. Like others interviewed, Kit identified himself by his call sign, as per military protocol. “It sounds like a plane is coming down on you,” he said, “like the gates of hell.”

The devastation caused by glide bombs is visible in towns and villages near the front line. The city of Orikhiv, about 20 kilometers north of Robotyne, once served as the command center for the counteroffensive. Now it is an empty shell, the main street deserted, the school and other buildings torn apart by huge bomb craters.

A lone worker, Valera, was cycling through the city. He said he had stayed despite the heavy bombardment because he had paid work repairing generators. He lived on humanitarian aid and raised 20 stray cats at his home, he said.

Soldiers moved cautiously through the area, mostly living in basements and staying undercover, out of sight.

That’s because the latest threat is Russia’s use of FPV kamikaze drones, which has largely forced Ukrainian soldiers to abandon vehicles in frontline areas and operate on foot.

A cheap commercial drone, the FPV – for first person view – has become the latest weapon of the moment in the Ukrainian war. It can fly as fast as a car, carries a deadly load of explosives and is guided to its target by a soldier holed up in a bunker several miles away.

Both the Russian and Ukrainian armies use them to hunt and attack targets, as they eliminate the delay in transmitting coordinates and requesting artillery strikes. Ukrainian soldiers said they often use the drones instead of artillery because grenades have become increasingly scarce and the drones are a cheap, fast weapon for attacking nearby Russian vehicles, bunkers and infantry.

Military units from both sides post videos online of their successful attacks, which end with a coded black screen at the moment of the blast. Several Ukrainian drone units allowed journalists from The New York Times to view live operations from positions near the front lines as they followed Russian soldiers and selected targets attacked.

One unit showed videos of a hit that destroyed Russian surveillance cameras and an antenna on an office building. Another targeted a Russian bunker in a tree line, although the drone was deflected by Russian electronic jamming before impact.

Only one in many drones hits its target, and many are lost to jamming and other interference, soldiers said.

For those on the receiving end of FPV drones, defending and supplying the front lines has become increasingly risky.

“It is extremely dangerous to go by car,” said a Ukrainian National Guardsman, who uses the call sign Varvar. Men from his unit said they had abandoned their armored vehicles since September and walked six miles to their positions. “You can only enter on foot,” Varvar said.

The men of the 117th Brigade, who were deploying to the front line in the Zaporizhia region on a recent night, faced with a four-mile walk through rain and mud, the intelligence commander said. If they were injured and captured, Russian troops would execute them, he warned them.

The long, arduous work of bringing in ammunition and food to supply troops and transporting the wounded was one of the reasons Ukraine could not sustain its counter-offensive, company commander Adolf, 23, said.

Ambulances and supply vehicles came under fire from kamikaze drones so often that his unit stopped using them and instead resorted to a four-wheeled buggy that volunteer engineers had rigged to carry a stretcher. The buggy was hidden under some trees next to his command post, several kilometers from the front line.

Ukrainian units are giving the same treatment to FPV drones on Russian lines, saying they were the first to start using drones to attack targets. But the Russians have copied the tactic in recent weeks, flooding frontline areas with drones, with deadly results, Ukrainian soldiers and commanders said.

“My impression is that Russia is interested in drones at the state level,” said the soldier known as Kit, but Ukraine, by contrast, was still largely dependent on volunteers and civilian donors for its drone program. “My feeling,” he said, “is that the government should do more.”

The Russians also used subterfuge, Planshet said, playing tapes of gunfire on drones to trick Ukrainian soldiers into thinking they were under attack, leaving the bunkers and announcing their positions.

Some members of his platoon said the Russians were using drones to drop smoke grenades into their trenches. One soldier, who goes by the call sign Medic, said it looked like some kind of tear gas.

“It causes a very severe pain in the eyes and a fire, like a piece of coal, in your throat and you can’t breathe,” he said.

Several soldiers wore gas masks to treat the stricken men, but when two men in the platoon crawled out of the bunker to escape the gas, they were killed by grenades dropped by Russian drones hovering above, soldiers said.

The toll is heavy for all units along the front. Nearly everyone was injured or barely survived in recent months, soldiers said.

“We are short of people,” said an intelligence commander from the 117th Brigade who uses the call sign Banderas, after the actor. “We have weapons, but not enough men.”

Yet many remain optimistic. Further east in the Donetsk region, Major Serhii Betz, a battalion commander of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, set out before dawn on a recent day, driving over muddy, ice-packed roads to check on his drone units close to the front line. He invited journalists from the New York Times.

The teams work underground, in bunkers lined with tree trunks and covered with earth. On a computer monitor, the commander turned on a livestream drone feed from a neighboring brigade where a battle was taking place.

“Russian tanks are entering the village,” a commander said over a walkie-talkie. “Is everything ready?” the major asked the drone team. “A tank is a cool target to destroy; let us help our brothers.”

Mice scurried around their bunker, rustling in a garbage bag, while the newly deployed team, fresh from training, fumbled with wiring and switches to get an FPV over the Russians’ positions for their first attack.

They were too slow and their first two flights crashed, brought down by Russian electronic jamming.

But the major was satisfied. “We are developing,” he said.

Olha Konovalova reported from the Zaporizhia region, and Christiaan Triebert from Auriac-du-Périgord, France.

Thick plumes of smoke could be seen drifting over the top of buildings today in the Gaza Strip’s southern city of Khan Yunis, the focus of recent fighting in a war that is now in its 13th week.

Fighting raged today across Gaza, where displaced Palestinians are ‘exhausted’ with no end in sight to the war between the besieged territory’s Hamas rulers and Israel.

The enclave’s Hamas-run health ministry said that 165 Gazans were killed over the past 24 hours, while a total of 56,165 others have been wounded in the fighting.

It added that at least 21,672 people have been killed in the Palestinian territory since the war with Israel erupted on October 7.

Further south, the border city of Rafah near Egypt was teeming with Gazans seeking safety from Israel’s relentless bombardment in its fight against Hamas terrorists.

‘Enough with this war! We are totally exhausted,’ said Umm Louay Abu Khater, a 49-year-old woman who had fled her home in Khan Yunis, taking refuge in Rafah.

‘We are constantly displaced from one place to another in cold weather,’ she said. ‘The bombs keep falling on us day and night.’

The Israeli army kept up its campaign in the face of mounting international pushback, reporting ‘fierce battles’ and air strikes across the narrow Palestinian territory.

The fighting began with Hamas’s bloody October 7 attacks, which left about 1,140 people dead in Israel, mostly civilians.

Terrorists also took about 250 people hostage, and Israel says 129 of them remain in Gaza.

Israel’s army says 168 soldiers have been killed in combat inside the territory.

There was continuous artillery shelling overnight in Rafah and Khan Yunis, and the Gaza health ministry said ‘multiple’ people had died in a strike on a house in Nuseirat refugee camp, in the territory’s centre.

UN chief Antonio Guterres on Friday reiterated his call for ‘an immediate humanitarian ceasefire’ as conditions in the Strip keep deteriorating.

Medics in Nasser hospital in Khan Yunis said they were facing severe shortages.

‘The hospital is receiving a lot more (patients) than its capacity, in fact we are functioning at 300 per cent of our… capacity,’ doctor Ahmad Abu Mustafa said in footage shared by the World Health Organization (WHO).

‘The beds are full… and we are basically short on all sorts of medicine supplies.’

An army statement today said ‘two Hamas military compounds were dismantled by the troops’ in Beit Lahia, and dozens of ‘terrorists’ had been killed in Gaza City, both in the territory’s north.

Ahmed al-Baz, a 33-year-old Palestinian displaced from Gaza City, said this year had been ‘the worst in my life’.

‘It was a year of destruction and devastation,’ he said in Rafah, surrounded by tents in a makeshift camp.

‘We just want the war to end, and start the new year at home, with a ceasefire declared.’

International mediators – who last month brokered a one-week truce that saw more than 100 hostages released and some aid enter Gaza – continue in their efforts to secure a new pause in fighting.

US news outlet Axios and Israeli website Ynet, both citing unnamed Israeli officials, reported that Qatari mediators had told Israel that Hamas was prepared to resume talks on new hostage releases in exchange for a ceasefire.

And a Hamas delegation was in Cairo on Friday to discuss an Egyptian plan proposing renewable ceasefires, a staggered release of hostages for Palestinian prisoners, and ultimately an end to the war, sources close to Hamas say.

Islamic Jihad, another armed group fighting alongside Hamas, said today that Palestinian factions were ‘in the process’ of evaluating the Egyptian proposal.

A response will come ‘within days, and the brothers in Egypt will be informed’, according to Muhammad al-Hindi, Islamic Jihad’s deputy secretary-general.

Israel has yet to formally comment on the Cairo plan, but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told families of hostages on Thursday that ‘we are in contact’ with the Egyptian mediators, also vowing to return the captives still in Gaza.

Mia Shem, an Israeli-French hostage abducted from the site of the Nova music festival and released under November’s truce agreement, told Israeli media she was locked up ‘in a dark room’ and ‘forbidden’ from talking.

‘There was a fear of rape, fear of dying,’ Shem, 21, said in an interview with Israel’s Channel 13 which aired on Friday.

An Israeli siege imposed after October 7, following years of crippling blockade, has led to dire shortages of food, safe water, fuel and medicine in Gaza, with aid convoys offering only sporadic relief.

On Friday, a total of 72 aid trucks, most of them carrying food, entered Gaza, according to the territory’s border crossings authority.

Gaza also received four fuel trucks and 29 commercial food trucks, it said.

The UN says more than 85 per cent of Gaza’s 2.4 million people have fled their homes.

South Africa on Friday filed an application at the International Court of Justice to start proceedings for what it said were ‘genocidal acts’ in Gaza, which Israel dismissed as ‘blood libel’.

Key Israeli ally the United States, meanwhile, announced the approval of a $147.5 million (£115.8 million) sale of 155mm high-explosive artillery munitions and related equipment to Israel from US Army stocks.

The Gaza war has intensified tensions across the region.

Israel has traded regular cross-border fire with Lebanon’s powerful Iran-backed Hezbollah movement, and early Saturday the army said it had struck in Syria following rocket launches.

A retired British strongman has tragically announced the loss of his unborn child.

Eddie Hall, 35, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, is famous for winning World’s Strongest Man in 2017, but recently shared the heartbreaking loss of his unborn daughter.

On December 3 he shared on Instagram a photo of his future ‘family of five’ – using the same snap wife Alexandra announced her pregnancy in October, captioning the tragic update.

Eddie said: “Unfortunately we have lost our unborn daughter. Personally, we don’t want to talk right now, share too much or break it up.

“There is no right way to deal with these things, only the way you choose. Our hearts are exhausted and talking won’t change anything or bring her back.

Family man Eddie won the ‘World’s Strongest Man’ competition in 2017

“We hope enough people see this to avoid having to have this painful conversation in person.”

“Right now, we’re taking some time alone to recover” before signing off: “Thanks for understanding, Alex and Eddie.”

In October, the happy family shared a sweet photo at Woore Fruit Farm, wearing matching skeleton onesies.

Alexandra has a skeleton baby embroidered on her stomach.

Eddied captioned the photo: “Happy Halloween from the five of us,” announcing Alexandra’s pregnancy to his four million followers.

The couple already share an 11-year-old son Maximum and a five-month-old daughter.

Eddie also has a daughter, Layla, from a previous relationship.

This comes after the dad tried to experience what it feels like to be pregnant in a light-hearted video with Alexandra.

In a YouTube video in May, the 35-year-old boxer wore a fake pregnancy belly and fake breasts – bought on the Internet – and spent the day as his wife, Alexandra, who was expecting their second child.

The 6ft tall strongman, who once weighed 31 stone but is now a slimmer 25 stone, admitted he was ‘agitated’ as he carried the extra weight around as he tried to complete tasks such as the school run, doing the family shop and getting ready for work.

‘The Beast’ looked quite strange as he took part in a yoga class and tried on maternity bras – in full view of other customers – in a lingerie department.

Hall, who previously swapped diets with his friend Tyson Fury, explained that he ordered the “super realistic” belly – which looked like he was carrying a nine-month-old baby – and large fake breasts to get some insight into what it feels like to being heavily pregnant.

Wearing his outfit, the husband and wife touched bumps in their kitchen before filming themselves following Alexandra’s normal routine.

Twitter was quickly flooded with posts from “defeated and exhausted” fans who had struggled – and failed – to buy tickets to the coveted performance, while also furious that some hopefuls were buying tickets to more than one concert.

General admission tickets for Taylor Swift’s Australian The Eras tour dates in Sydney and Melbourne sold out in hours, with only VIP and Hotel + Ticket packages left for all shows in the country.

Tickets for the Sydney shows went on sale at 10am, while Melbournians jumped online at 2pm to score a seat.

Frontier touring broke the bad news on Twitter to its Sydney-based fans around noon Friday, writing, “AG Reserve is now exhausted. VIP and Hotel + Ticket packages remain valid for all shows in Sydney!’

Following the news, fans swarmed the site, writing: ‘Taylor should have put her shows in every state of Australia and NZ so we all have a better chance of getting tickets… it’s just not fair…

‘A whole day from 10 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. and all tickets gone! for nothing! Feel so defeated! I really believe only people from Australia/New Zealand/Islands should buy the tickets…

“I couldn’t get Taylor Swift tickets, please come to Australia and fill the void… Taylor Swift literally broke Australia. No one is doing work because everyone is trying to get tickets, tickets instantly 2-5x, flights and hotels instantly 4x…

“Someone (other than Taylor Swift) made a lot of money today… Does @taylorswift13 know the chaos that engulfed Australia this beautiful day in June? Taylor. Mrs. Taylor Alison Swift. We call shenanigans….

No, because the battle for Taylor Swift tickets in Australia will be brutal and I’m so scared. What if I don’t get tickets?’

Taylor announced a third Melbourne show at the MCG on February 18 next year and a fourth Sydney concert at Accor Stadium on February 26 as part of The Eras Tour.

The star will become the first artist since Madonna to play three consecutive concerts at the Melbourne Cricket Ground when she takes the stage in February next year, and the first ever to play a fourth consecutive show at Sydney’s Accor Stadium.

The new performances are in addition to the existing concerts in Melbourne on February 16 and 17 and shows in Sydney on February 23, 24 and 25.

Prior to their disappointing blow, avid fans took to social media to tweet Ticketek, begging for seats to one of the shows.

Fans wrote, “This is becoming an obsession. I feel like a stalker!…I’m going to play all of Taylor Swift’s albums and see how long it lasts,” wrote another…

‘Guys, I’m working to serve customers, get me tickets right away, please I’m begging you… How much is a booking/service fee per ticket? Do you have to be sure that you take sufficient account?’

Other fans camped outside Ticketek offices in an attempt to beat online queues.

“3 more hours until the box office opens, but the atmosphere is impeccable,” Swift superfan Bec Sammut said in a viral TikTok video as she waited outside in the dead of winter.

“Camping overnight at the Ticketek office for Taylor Swift tickets because that’s legitimately easier than getting them online,” she wrote.

In yet another bizarre turn of events, Taylor fans in the UK rushed to dating apps in a desperate bid to meet Liverpool season ticket holders who have priority access to the pop star’s Anfield stadium concerts.

‘Swifties’ – the nickname for Taylor’s millions of supporters – fear they won’t be able to get tickets after the singer changed her sales system so bots can’t resell.

Young women across the UK are now changing the location setting on their dating profiles to Liverpool to increase their chances of meeting a nearby football fan – so they can get their tickets from them when Taylor plays there in June 2024.

One Twitter user wrote: ‘If you are a single man in Liverpool and you have an LFC season ticket, Tinder and Hinge will love you.

“Every girl is looking for a guy who has one so they can get their Taylor Swift tickets. I give these girls all due respect for their struggles to get tickets.’

Another said, “I swipe right on Tinder when they say they have Taylor Swift tickets. No luck yet. I will totally match with someone who would hate me for being arm candy on the show.”

Tickets for the Taylor’s Eras tour, currently taking place in the US, are notoriously hard to buy due to the “unprecedented demand” coupled with the use of bots.

Robots that can mimic human activity on a large scale on the Internet have been used to buy limited edition tickets and resell them at a higher cost.

Last year, US politicians were forced to intervene after millions of Swifties were unable to buy Eras tickets after the Ticketmaster site crashed due to bots overwhelming the site.

About 320 fans have filed a lawsuit against Ticketmaster’s parent company Live Nation for at least £1,900 for selling tickets to bots.

To deal with the problem in the UK, Ticketmaster has set up a very complicated booking system to reduce the number of fans who have access to ticket sales.

Advance tickets were available to people who pre-ordered the Midnight’s album before its release or Liverpool season ticket holders.

Taylor will perform five Wembley shows next summer in addition to her two performances in Liverpool, concluding in London on August 17.
