Taylor Swift has scrapped the track list for her upcoming 11th studio album, The department of tortured poets – and she reminds fans that all is fair in love and poetry.
Swift took to social media on Monday, February 5 to reveal the 17 song titles, which will be split into four sides. The list also revealed that Swift will have two artists on the record: PostMalone will appear on the album's opening track, “Fortnight,” while Florence + the Machine will appear on the Side B track “Florida!!!” will appear.
Other notable titles include 'My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys', 'Down Bad' and 'I Can Fix Him (No, Real, I Can)', 'So Long, London', which could refer to Swift's divorce from ex Joe Alwyn. (Swift dated the British native for almost six years before calling it quits for good in April 2023.)
Along with the titles, Swift posted a photo of the album's back cover via Instagram, which featured a black and white photo of the singer with her hand on her forehead. On her bare shoulder are the words 'I love you, it's ruining my life'. “April 19th 🤍,” she captioned the post, referencing the album's release date.
Swift announced that her 11th album was on the way as she accepted the Pop Vocal Album award at the Grammys on Sunday, February 4, marking her 13th Grammy win. (Swift also took home Album of the Year for 2022 midnight, becoming the first person to win the award four times.)
“[The way I can celebrate] is to tell you a secret that I have been hiding from you for the past two years, which is that my brand new album is coming out on April 19th,” she told the audience. “It is called The department of tortured poets and I'm now going to place the cover backstage.
Shortly after the album's title was revealed, fans began speculating whether there was a connection to 32-year-old Alwyn. The actor previously discussed a group chat with his friends called “The Tortured Man's Club” during Variety 2022 Actors on Actors interview special, which is very similar to Swift's upcoming record.
“It's the Tortured Man Club, I think. It's me, you – and Andrew Scott the group began,” Alwyn countered Paul Mescal at the time. “[Andrew is] he just sent himself a good morning. We were both in the Sally Rooney universe and crossed over with Lenny Abrahamson. We were so lucky to have that experience.”
