Dr. Terry Dubrow gave Ozempic a chance – but he missed 'the joy of eating'.

'I've tried it. I loved it. I…didn't have that much weight to lose,” Dubrow, 65, said Page six. “But I wanted to try it because so many of my patients were using it and I wanted to see what it was like when you don't have diabetes and only have 10 to 15 pounds to lose.”

Although he still supports the medication, he didn't feel the side effects were worth the reward. In addition to 'low-grade nausea', the Failed star lost interest in food. “I thought, 'You know what, I actually want to get my appetite back. The holidays are coming, I want to enjoy,” he explained.

The plastic surgeon, who is married to The Real Housewives of Orange County star Heather Dubrownoted that Ozempic “really took away all the joy from eating.”

Dubrow added, “You go on vacation, maybe you don't exercise, you eat too much. It was like, 'Well, I want to go on a food vacation,' which means I want to be able to eat again.”

In addition to wanting to enjoy food during the holidays, Dubrow also had to go off the semaglutide injections if he wanted a Christmas cocktail.

“You can't drink it,” he said. “You have to be very careful with alcohol because people with pancreatitis are hospitalized.”

Even though Ozempic isn't the right choice for Dubrow, he still thinks it's a huge breakthrough that will help a lot of people.

He spoke exclusively in August We weekly about the positive effects of the injections, which were intended to treat type 2 diabetes.

“These Ozempic-type drugs are not the new Botox. They are better. It's Botox, liposuction, breast augmentation, facelifts,” Dubrow shared Us. “When you put it all together, you have a drug that not only makes people look and feel better, it also treats the major risk factor for heart disease, diabetes and cancer. So this is an incredibly powerful positive thing that is, I think, really the most important medical breakthrough in history.”

Some celebrities have spoken out about using Ozempic and other similar drugs to shed pounds quickly — and many are facing backlash. However, Dubrow wanted to “immediately stop the ozempic shaming,” noting that doctors need people to speak clearly and accurately about their experiences with the drug.

“Listen, we don't know how to use these miracle weight loss drugs, especially in non-diabetics. We don't know how to use them in patients who only have five to twenty pounds to lose. So we need to share our experiences,” Dubrow explained Us. “We learn as the patients learn what the side effects really are. … So it's a really exciting time, but it's also a really scary time. It's going to change the nature of our bodies and what happens to our physiology. And it's a new frontier. It is exciting, but also very dangerous.”
