The BMW in which Tupac was murdered is up for sale for £1.4 million… and is still riddled with bullet holes
THE BMW in which rapper Tupac was fatally shot has hit the market for £1.39 million, still riddled with bullet holes.
Aside from its blemished appearance, the infamous car is in surprisingly good condition with just over 120,000 miles on the odometer.
American musician Tupac Shakuralso known by his stage names 2Pac and Makaveli, is among the best-selling artists in the world and widely regarded as one of the most influential rappers of all time.
His life came to a tragic end in 1996 when he was shot four times by an unknown assailant during a drive-by, following a boxing match at the MGM Grand on the Vegas strip.
Tupac died six days after the shooting, aged 25.
The black BMW The Seven Series Sedan he was in at the time and which is now for sale has since had the bullet holes in the exterior patched up, but there is still a nick.
A listing for the car reads: “This is the actual car that Tupac Shakur was shot while driving in after a fight at the MGM Vegas.
“This is the first time this car has been for sale or on display since his death in 1996. It has been completely restored to the condition it was in before his death and has just been given a new coat of paint.
“There is a small dent where we think one of the bullet holes was, but it's hard to tell. Other than that it has been completely repaired.”
The wheels of the car are the same as those at the time of the shooting, which occurred around 11:15 p.m. on September 7, 1996.
Death Row Records boss Marion “Suge” Knight was the driving the car, originally leased by the American record label at the time.
Tupac and Knight were traveling along Las Vegas Boulevard when the rapper was struck by four bullets fired from a .40-caliber Glock – twice in the chest, once in the arm and once in the thigh.
Self-confessed gangster Keefe D – real name Duane Davis – later told police that he and his gang “leaned over, rolled down the window and threw it open.”
He confessed during a Police interview in 2008 under what he thought was an immunity deal – but the confession can now be used court to condemn him.
Keefe, 60, has denied any involvement in the rapper's murder before a judge in Las Vegas.
The 16-year-old confession, penned by members of an LAPD federal task force, was barred from being used in any lawsuit against the ex-Crip due to a legal technicality.
But Keefe is now confronted with the tape presented as important evidence by the Clark County District Attorney's Office thanks to a legal loophole that says anyone who admits to lying in a “Proffer” — an immunity agreement — automatically loses protection.
The entire defense of the gangster, as described by his special defenders, revolves around his insistence lied about the Tupac murder for “fame and fortune”.
Keef is expected to be released from the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas within a few days, his attorney told The Sun.
According to the BMW's listing, the car Tupac was in when he was shot has had several owners since his death, with the most recent giving it a “complete restoration.”
The ad read: “The new owner will receive documentation proving ownership and history.
“Celebrity Cars has the vehicle on display in our showroom and is available for sale.
“Before any offers are submitted, we require a refundable deposit of $20,000 (£16,000) to accompany each offer, along with a signed confidentiality agreement.”
