THREE mothers who shoplifted more than £1,300 have avoided jail.

The women used special bags that could defeat security tags to loot clothes, shoes and cosmetics in three hours.

Paige Griffin, 28, Ann-Marie Beckett, 35, and Karen Beckett, 44, traveled from the West Midlands to rob four shops in Cheshire retail parks.

They stole £1,300 worth of equipment Next one only.

The trio, who have four children together, were arrested Police after security personnel provided their registration number Nissan Qashqai.

The Becketts, from Walsall, and Griffin, from Willenhall, admitted the thefts to Crewe JPs in November.

The three, all of whom have previous convictions, received a suspended prison sentence and 25 days of rehabilitation each.

Bank chairman Ian Williams said: “There are children and other issues involved.”

Williams added: “If you don’t commit any further offences, you won’t go to prison.

‘That responsibility lies with yourself.’
