Former Today weatherman Steve Jacobs has announced he is opening a new restaurant in one of Sydney’s best hotspots.

The popular breakfast TV star, 56, told Daily Mail Australia he was working with Bonditony’s Burger Joint for the new eatery.

The restaurant, which opens next Tuesday, will be located in Enmore, a thriving entertainment district 5km from the CBD.

In an exclusive chat, the father-of-two said the new career move was a “bit of a pivot” and did not mean he was retiring from television.

“I’m still going to continue doing TV,” he said. “TV is so fragmented right now and I’ve been focusing on my daughters for the last five years.”

“It’s been very difficult for me to travel and work full-time, which I normally do.”

Steve also spoke of his sadness at Channel 10’s Studio 10 being axed last month.

The former Channel Nine star worked on the show as a freelance reporter and producer.

“It’s sad because I thought the show had so much potential… but I think it’s a sign of the times with free TV,” he said.

He explained that he will continue to work on air in Sydney with 2GB after his new restaurant, called Tony’s Enmore, launches next week.

Steve also revealed that he and his new business partner, former music promoter Tony Gosden, have plans to expand the burger franchise to other locations, including Byron Bay.

He described the new Enmore eatery as ‘Australia’s coolest burger joint’ and confirmed there will be live music.

Meanwhile, Steve said things were still going strong with girlfriend Amanda King, who he has been in a romantic relationship with since 2019.

The couple attended the Virgin Voyages Resilient Lady Launch event together on Tuesday evening.

Steve was previously married to TV presenter Rosie Jacobs, the mother of his two daughters, Isabella, 12, and Francesca, 10. The couple split in 2017.

Just months after moving to Vanuatu, they split in what friends described at the time as a “last ditch effort” to save their troubled seven-year marriage.

Steve rose to fame on Nine’s Today as a weather presenter, leaving in 2019 after a marathon 12-year stint in the role. He was replaced by Tim Davies.
