A Tom Jones superfan was left emotional when her family surprised her with tickets to see the Welsh crooner for the first time ever.

Maureen Hesketh, 91, has been a fan of Jones throughout his 60-year career and never thought she would one day see him perform.

So when her daughter Christine Parkinson, 65, revealed the surprise, she couldn’t hold back the tears.

In a clip shared on TikTok, Maureen, a retired printer, could be seen in tears as her daughter was handed the tickets upon arrival at the arena where he was performing.

Maureen’s entire family donated to buy two tickets for the concert, which took place at the AO Arena in Manchester on December 20.

Christine, a retired customer service manager, hid the surprise by telling her mother they were going to a choir.

She even took her to get her hair and nails done right before the concert.

“Right, I’ve been telling you a lie all day,” Christine tells her mother while filming a video. “Where do you think we’re going?”

Maureen looks confused and replies, “I have no idea.”

Christine adds: “You’re not going to the cathedral, you’re going to Tom Jones,” before Maureen gasps and puts her hand over her mouth in shock.

“We all participated and got you tickets,” Christine tells her tearful mother. “So that’s why you got your hair and nails done.”

After the concert, Maureen said: ‘I was completely stunned, I honestly had no idea. It was definitely the best surprise.

‘The concert was fantastic, he still has the best voice.’

Maureen said it brought back a lot of memories, but unlike others around her, she resisted the urge to throw underwear at him.

She added: ‘There was an older lady sitting next to us who put on panties to throw, but I didn’t, but we had a great time.’

Christine’s son Adam, 35, posted the video to TikTok, which has now been viewed 200,000 times.

He said: ‘She’s always been a big fan. We lost Grandpa in 2018 and they were married for 64 years. Since then she has been on her own.

“Right, I've been telling you a lie all day,” Christine tells her mother while filming a video. 'Where do you think we're going?

‘Everyone has been doing a little more since he passed away and since mum retired she has been a full-time carer for grandma. It was her idea.

‘After the show, my grandmother said through tears, “I never thought I’d ever see him again,” and they both cried in the taxi.

“I spoke to her on the phone before the concert and she felt like a child again.”

Adam said Maureen has collected Jones’ CDs all her life and has fond memories of her fandom.

He said: ‘She would buy every CD he ever put out. I used to get into her Mini Cooper and it was full of ‘Greatest Hits’ CDs.”
