The Met Office added that the force of the winds will continue to increase by two this morning yellow weather warnings in place for Wednesday.

The warnings cover the north, Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland.

The first covers the northernmost parts of Scotland from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.

It extends from the Shetland Islandsstraight through the northern tip of Scotland and into the Outer Hebrides.

The warning states that there is a “remote possibility that injuries and danger to life may occur” due to large waves and beach material being thrown onto the sea, coastal roads and properties.

Wind gusts of 60 to 75mph are likely, with strong winds of up to 80mph at times in some places, the Met Office said.

Forecasters say strong winds have the potential to cause travel chaos, blow down trees and even cause power outages, and could also lead to road disruption with possible restrictions on high-sided vehicles.

The Met Office added that there was a small chance of “damage to buildings, such as tiles blown off roofs”.

There is a small chance that some roads and bridges will be closed and travelers will experience longer journey times, as road, air and ferry services may be affected.

Forecasters say these windy conditions in north-west Scotland will be accompanied by heavy rain for a period of time, in the morning and early afternoon.

The Met Office has also issued another yellow weather warning for high winds, in force from 9am today until 5pm tomorrow.

This second warning covers the rest of Scotland and into northern England Newcastle as well as northern parts of Northern Ireland.

Heavy rain could also fall in northern parts of Britain on Wednesday, according to British newspaper The Guardian With office.

Further south it will be drier and windy, but it will become increasingly cloudy and there will be some drizzle in the southwest.
