Ukraine will receive its first batch of small-diameter ground-launched bombs made by aviation giant Boeing — as early as today, according to U.S. officials and other sources familiar with the matter.

The war-torn country needs the new bomb to increase its limited range of 100 miles Army Tactical missile system missiles already supplied by the US.

An unnamed US official said this Politics It is expected to be “an important opportunity for Ukraine.”

The official said: “It gives them a deeper strike capability that they haven't had, it complements their long-range fire arsenal.

“It's just another arrow in the quiver, allowing them to do more.”

Co-developed by Boeing and Saab, the weapon consists of a 250-pound precision-guided bomb strapped to a rocket motor that can be fired from various ground launchers.

The 'glide bomb' will allow the Ukrainian military to hit targets at twice the range that the country's missiles can currently reach.

It was first revealed in November 2022 that the Pentagon was considering a proposal from Boeing to supply Ukraine with bombs that would allow Kiev to strike far behind Russian lines.

And the Biden administration announced in February last year that it would indeed supply Ukraine with a new longer-range bomb.

But the new weapon had to be tested by the US military before it could be shipped – a process that took many months.

The final test of the newly built Ground-Launched Small Diameter Bomb reportedly included six missiles and took place at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida on January 16, after which shipments could begin.

Launchers and dozens of nuclear warheads would be airlifted to Ukraine, a person familiar with the test said Reuters.

It is long past time to find creative means to strike… deep and often behind Russian lines.

Sources have said that even the US does not have the breakthrough device in its inventory.

The bomb's arrival comes at a time when Ukrainian supplies of artillery and ammunition are beginning to dwindle.

Ukraine will be the first country to use it in combat.

An air-launched version of the weapon was created in 2019, but Boeing and Saab only sold it when the US decided to donate it to Kiev as part of a $111 billion aid package.

The new glide bombs are much cheaper, smaller and easier to deploy than the Army Tactical Missile System missiles that the US has already supplied to Ukraine and which have been depleted by use.

A weapons and security expert from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Tom Karako, told Reuters: “It is long past time to find creative means to provide the capability and capability needed to go deep and often behind the to strike Russian lines.”

Great Britain does is expected to send 200 air defense missiles to Ukraine to help protect it from the Russians drones and bombings.

The British Department of Defense confirmed the huge shipment on December 29, next Russia has unleashed a sickening barrage of missiles on Ukraine which reportedly killed 28 people and injured 130 civilians.

A total of 158 rockets were hit housesa maternity hospital and a shopping center in what was believed to be the largest air raid Ukraine since the beginning of the bloody war.

Minister of Defence Grant Shapps wrote down X Last month: “Britain is rapidly strengthening Ukraine's air defenses in the wake of Putin's murderous air defenses strikes.

“Hundreds of British air defense missiles are being sent to ensure Ukraine has everything it needs to defend itself against Putin's barbaric bombardment.”
