The tip was posted on a popular Reddit forum called r/firetvstick.

“I've just been given a stick and I want to make sure I use it properly.

“Do you have any best practices, tips and tricks to keep the stick behaving as it should?

“Like I have to turn it off via the remote before unplugging it, etc.,” the Reddit user asked.

The most popular response in the thread described how the new owner of an Amazon Fire TV Stick should connect the device to the TV.

“Do not connect the USB power to the TV. Clean the cache regularly. If you use Sideload apps, delete the APK to save memory,” one Reddit user advised.

This was met with some confusion in the comments, with one person asking: “What's wrong with plugging it into the TV?”

Another Reddit user said, “The TV's USB power is often lower than what the Firestick requires, leading to performance issues.”
