The best days of their lives? Vanderpump Rules has officially been renewed for season 11 — and viewers are in for a messy return in the wake of Rachel Leviss And Tom Sandovalthe scam scandal.
When the Bravo series kicked off Season 10 in February 2023, the topic on everyone’s mind was Tom Schwartz‘s hookup with Raquel amid his divorce from Katie Maloney. However, things quickly changed on and off screen as Raquel’s connection to Sandoval came into question.
Us weekly confirmed in March 2023 that Sandoval and Ariana Madix had called it quits after nearly a decade of dating because of his infidelity. As a result, cameras have captured more footage for another season finale detailing the drama.
Meanwhile, cast members voiced how the show tweaked content they already had about Sandoval and Raquel. “I told you we didn’t have any editing in the episode until Scandoval happened. I spoke too soon. Now remember, what I see in advance is not always what comes on the television screen,” Lala knows said during a May 2023 episode of her podcast “Give Them Lala”.
The beauty mogul elaborated on how Raquel’s storyline has changed since viewers learned more details about her dating life.
“She would have won the season. She would have been the No. 1 girl as she sobs to make up for lost time,” Lala noted, referring to the model’s emotional confessions about her breakup with James Kennedy. “Do we think she cried so hard because she felt guilty? The line was crossed long before they had sex. The emotional affair had already begun.”
The podcast host added, “No matter how much I hit her, every chance I get, beyond that I see a broken person. I don’t think she’s heartless and soulless.
Raquel, for her part, entered a mental health facility in the wake of her cheating scandal. “Raquel and her family decided before the relationship was discovered that she would go to a voluntary mental health facility,” a representative for the California resident read in April, clarifying that Raquel was in rehab but did not seek help for substance abuse . issues. “Raquel planned to admit himself before the VPR reunion taped on March 23. She was supposed to go to the pre-reunion, but decided she wanted to finish her movie commitment. Bravo and production were aware and supported her journey to better mental health.
However, the former beauty pageant contestant received no support from any of her costars (with the exception of Sandoval and Schwartz). Katie, for her part, berated Raquel for mistreating her friends during Season 10.
“Since you are so morally bankrupt for causing this kind of chaos, you better be equipped to deal with the backlash,” the Utah native wrote in the comments section of a Bravo Instagram page. “And if you [SIC] not..then seek the help you need, but you cannot ask for sympathy. That’s all. May’s mental health is not reserved for those who seek and destroy.
Amidst the drama, Sandoval offered an update on how Raquel was doing after confirming they are not currently in a relationship. “Raquel is in a mental institution,” TomTom’s co-owner told TMZ in April, adding that Raquel was “doing well” after opting to get treatment. “Or she decides to tell you afterwards where that is — there’s Raquel. No visitors, no friends, no family, no phone, nothing.”
