What NFL athletes and their families have said about ticket prices

It gets very pricey to attend an NFL game, even if you are a player's family member.

Prices have consistently risen over the years, with an average regular subscription costing over $375 in 2023.

Football's biggest day of 2024 is no exception, with Super Bowl LVIII being the most expensive game ever. To see the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas, tickets cost about $8,000.

The sticker shock has deterred some NFL athletes and their families from purchasing tickets, including 49ers running backs Christian McCaffrey's mother, Lisa McCaffreywho admitted that she could not afford it.

“We looked at a suite and none of us can afford it,” Lisa said on the “Your Mom” podcast in January 2024. “Not even Christian, money bags there, nor money bags Olivia [Culpo]. So we are not in a suite. I will tell you now.”

Shortly after Lisa's confession, Culpo revealed that she had purchased a Super Bowl suite for her fiancé's mother's birthday.

Donna Kelce

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce's mother, Donna Kelceknows all too well the difficulties of attending the Super Bowl after her sons famously faced off in 2023.

“If your child has a heartbeat, you have to pay for it,” Donna said Today in February 2024. “It doesn't matter if they were just born. If you have a child, even if you hold it all the time, you have to pay the full price.”

Donna noted that “it's a little pricey” for parents to take their kids to the game, but it's a special family moment that's hard to miss.

“You want them to know you were there when your dad was in the Super Bowl so you can tell them later in life,” she said.

Jason and his wife, Kylie Kelcecandidly discussed their decision to buy tickets for their children to see their father play in Super Bowl LVII during their Kelce documentary.

“We're going to pay almost $4,000 for a king's child who won't sit in a chair,” Kylie said in the Prime Video film, which was released in September 2023. “To see her father play a game. Those are bananas.”

The former Denver Broncos punter welcomed his third child just days before the team was set to play in the 2016 Super Bowl. Although each player received 15 tickets for the game, each ticket was worth $1,800, even for infants.

“There is no age limit on tickets” Britton Colquitt told the Denver Post at the time. “It's $1,800 for our one-week-old daughter that we just got. It's a bit crazy.”

He explained that although his daughter would not remember the day, he made the decision to include her.

“If we win and my wife and two kids are there, but she's not, how do I explain it to her?” Colquitt explained CBS Sports. “If we win in the photos, I would like her to be there.”

Lisa McCaffrey

Before Culpo surprised Lisa with a Super Bowl LVIII suite to watch Christian, the NFL star's mother opened up about her struggle to get a ticket and shared that her family was able to negotiate a group of tickets. negotiating' in a specific section of the stands.

Ahead of the NFC Championship game in January 2022, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford's wife Kelly Stafford announced that she was going to buy tickets for fans after seeing how expensive they were.

During an episode of hers podcast“The Morning After With Kelly Stafford & Hank,” she said she bought tickets for about 240 people, ranging in price from $850 to $1,200 each.
