Prince William has revealed that his youngest son Louis is a big fan of pop band OneRepublic.

The Prince of Wales, 41, met the American singers backstage at the Earthshot Awards in Singapore last night.

Speaking to the group, famous for songs Counting Stars and Apologize, the future king said: ‘I can’t thank you enough’

‘You were great. What a way to start the show. That was incredible.’

“Louis, my youngest, loves your songs,” he added, before confessing that Prince George, 10, still loves veteran rockers AC/DC.

The prince met the band backstage after Tuesday night’s show at Mediacorp’s 1,500-capacity Theater and congratulated them on their performance, opening proceedings.

In May, William revealed that George is a big fan of both the Australian rockers and Led Zeppelin.

On an evening where the main topic was the need for urgent action to combat climate change and other environmental threats to the world, William, 41, told British indie band Bastille their performance of Pompeii – about the disaster that befell the Roman city when Mount Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD. – to end the show he had a great influence on the people around him in the audience.

He said the song, performed by the band with Voices of Singapore choir and singer Freya Ridings, was the perfect way to end proceedings.

“You guys ruined it. Honestly, it was incredibly moving, it was very powerful and I didn’t want it to end.

“And everyone in front of me was crying. I mean, I didn’t look behind me, but there were tears everywhere. It was so powerful and a great way to end the show. So thank you very much.”

South African actress Nomzano Mbatha, who presented one of the awards, told William she was in tears at the end. “It was incredible,” she said.

The prince thanked co-hosts, actors Hannah Waddingham and Sterling K Brown.

‘You were brilliant. The chemistry was seeping,” he said.

Brown said: ‘We had a good time. There were a few hiccups, but we got through it.”

William raved about the Earthshot finalists, saying they were the real heroes of the evening and he hopes that scaling their businesses will help solve some of the world’s environmental problems.

“I think we’ve raised the bar this year. The best yet,” he told the artists.

Earlier, William congratulated the winners, who were waiting for him with their prizes in hand, which were made from recycled materials including brass sourced from water pipe fittings, household waste and tiny metal elements filtered from wastewater sludge.

The prince, who met the finalists earlier in the day before the results were announced, walked in, clapped his hands and smiled broadly, saying: “Hey, well done. I am so happy for you. He told them, “I am so proud of all of you. Really well done.’

William, who congratulated them on their speeches, added: “I hope you feel the love and support because that is what is there. It’s for all the hard work you’ve done.

“And many of you have been doing this for a long time and never really received recognition for all the hard work you put into it. So take this moment to really absorb it. Everyone is grateful and supportive of all the hard work you do. work you have done.”

He told them, “The Earthshot Prize is nothing without you.”

William promised to visit all the winners, who come from all over the world. ‘I will do. The great thing is that I now have many opportunities to visit all of you. As the year goes on, I now have plenty of friends around the world to visit.”

He added: “Bravo, guys. Sorry we didn’t give you your prizes on stage. Everyone was afraid you would drop them.

“They’re safe in your hands now, that’s what matters.”
