DESIGNERS have invented a beer belly-shaped glass so beer can be enjoyed in three different ways.
The wobbly barrel has a straight front and back, but one side curves inward while the other bulges out.
It was created by designer Nendo for Japanese brewing giant Sapporo and was soon to be seen in Britain.
A spokesperson said it is designed to allow beer to be enjoyed with three different ‘mouthfeel’, maximizing its ‘refreshment, aroma and richness’.
Starting on a straight side, he said, the beer rolls through the center of the tongue to the back of the mouth, creating “a crisp, refreshing finish.”
Turn to the submerged side and the wide rim fills the mouth with the beer’s “soft, rich aroma and bouquet.”
Drink from the bulbous side, and the alcohol once again hits the center of the tongue, “giving the intuition to control the amount consumed in a mouthful, ensuring a full appreciation of the rich flavors.”
Last year, ale-boffins also discovered that beer is better for your intestines than trendy healthy food.
Research has shown that drinking alcohol in moderation is better than not drinking alcohol at all.
In theory, it could prevent heart disease, improve blood circulation and slow aging.
International experts found that beer is rich in a beneficial mix of compounds necessary for good gut health – which are believed to improve heart health and immunity.
It was found to be more effective than probiotics when drunk in moderation.
Probiotics are foods containing living microorganisms with supposed health benefits.
