Lucy warned that the most important thing to avoid if you don’t want to be fooled is taking off your shoes.

Lucy revealed: ‘Surprisingly there is always one passenger per cruise who can comfortably walk around the entire cruise ship without shoes.

“They will walk in and out of stores without shoes on, they will even find it appropriate to go to the theater without shoes because they are technically inside.

“Regardless, you must wear your shoes in any area outside your cabin.

“And if you try to walk around on the cruise ship without shoes, the crew members will laugh at you.”

However, it’s not just putting your feet on the ground that causes employees to turn their noses up; being rude is another blunder.

Lucy said: ‘I think the biggest mistake people can make when they’re on a cruise is not being polite to every crew member.

“You don’t know what you need and which crew member can solve your problems and there have been times when a passenger has been incredibly rude to a crew member, which they needed later on during their cruise.”

If you’re nice to the staff, it might even get you some free luxuries.

The 28-year-old said the best way to get free stuff and upgrades is to “make real connections with crew members.”

She added, “And this applies to your cabin. Monitor your waiter and basically every crew member.

“If you are a nice person and have a bond with a crew member, they are more likely to go out of their way for you.

‘That’s why I laugh when passengers are rude to crew members, because they’re only doing themselves a disservice.

“No crew member will go to any lengths for a passenger who is disrespectful and rude.”

The cruise ship employee claims that the worst type of passengers are those who are “determined to be miserable” no matter what you offer them, and that “happy passengers are the best.”

So if you’re heading to the seaside this year, make sure you put a smile on your face and keep your feet under control if you want to make a good impression.

It comes just after a singer who used to work on a cruise ship has revealed the morbid reason why they have ‘free ice cream parties’ on board.

TikTok star Dara Starr Tucker opened up about her experiences with disasters and deaths on cruise ships in a series of videos on the platform, where she has more than 1.1 million followers.

When one commenter noted that there is a correlation between the amount of ice given to passengers and the number of bodies in the morgue, she confirmed that “this is unfortunately often true.”

“When the crew suddenly provides ice cream to the passengers — a free ice cream party — it’s often because more people have died on the ship than there is room for in the morgue,” she said.
