A new ‘Banksy’ has popped up on the side of our house, but we’re terrified our rent is going to go up

A NEW suspected Banksy piece has surfaced on the side of a house – with locals terrified their rent will now skyrocket.

The giant work of art appeared in Finsbury Park, in the north, on Saturday night Londonand has left the residents speechless.

street artist Banksy often references contemporary issues in his work, and what is considered his latest acquisition depicts a woman with a high-pressure hose painting a leafless tree.

Experts have said that the latest graffiti scribbles are a symbol of how nature is struggling and that we as humans must help improve global warming.

James Roebuck, 26, who lives in the apartment building, said he woke up to the art Sunday morning.

He said on X/Twitter: “Banksy came overnight and now my rent is going to skyrocket.”

The work is currently unconfirmed, but the creator of the BBC Radio 4 series The Banksy Story, James Peak, has said he is confident this is the work of Banksy.

He told the BBC: ‘The message is clear. Nature is having a hard time and it is up to us to help it grow again.

“If you go back to the beginning of his work, he’s always looking for something he can do with minimal effort to make something look really cool.”

The elusive artist confirms each artwork on his official Instagram page – which has been inactive since December last year.

This would be the first Banksy piece of 2024 – if confirmed by the anonymous Banksy.

It comes next a council was crushed for ruining another Banksy mural after part of it was replaced by a trash can.

The artwork on the side of a building in MargateKent, originally showed a bruised 1950s housewife in an apron and dishwashing gloves pushing a man into a freezer.

Banksy’s last confirmed work of art

It is understood Banksy did not support the removal.

Valentine’s Day Mascara, a 3.8 tonne mural, appeared on the side of a house in Margate, Kent, on Valentine’s Daylast year.

But just 24 hours after the artwork was first spotted, municipal workers removed the freezer – leaving an empty space.

The freezer was later replaced by a municipal waste container.

And in 2018 Banksy ruined one of his own plays – when he caused his most famous painting to shred itself just seconds after it sold for £1 million.

Buyers at Sotheby’s auction house in London were stunned when his piece Girl with a Balloon began self-destructing.

It sold for a whopping £1,042,000, but was left hanging in shreds as it passed through the device placed in the frame.

In September, Valentine’s Day Mascara was placed in the foyer of The Art of Banksy exhibition in Regent Street, central London, where it can be viewed for free.

The exhibition includes Girl With Balloon, Flower Thrower and Rude Copper, but also focuses on Banksy’s Dismaland, The Walled Off Hotel in Bethlehem and recent works recognizing the ongoing war in the country. Ukraine.
