Scarlette Douglas has admitted she was left in tears during a recent hospital visit during her ongoing fertility journey.

The 37-year-old A Place In The Sun presenter has frozen her eggs to boost her chances of having children.

The star took to Instagram on Wednesday to share how being in hospital for an egg retrieval procedure left her feeling emotional.

She told her followers: ‘Well I’ll be honest, I felt very uncomfortable going in today ladies.

‘The trigger injection really made the bloating and lower abdominal pain worse, and the closer it got to egg retrieval, the more uncomfortable I felt. I had to sit on my left side most of the day!’

Scarlette told how she got teary before the procedure because no one could accompany her.

She wrote: ‘Everything was well explained and I felt in good hands. I did shed a tear just before the anesthesia took effect, mainly because I was scared and nervous, but also because you have to do it all alone; no one can come in with you.

“Anyway, the best night’s sleep I’ve ever had, came out, was in pain, so they gave me some more pain relief, then hung around for about an hour and a half and just as I was ready to leave the recovery room, I was told about my 24 eggs collected, 19 of which were viable for freezing!!!!! I was over the moon!

‘That was more than I could ever have imagined and that’s why I was and am so happy that it has all been worth it so far.’

It comes after Scarlette was rushed to A&E earlier this month after experiencing ‘strange numbness and tingling’.

While getting ready for an awards ceremony, Scarlette explained how she “freaked out” by Googling her symptoms.

In the clip shared to Instagram, she began: ‘I’m hosting an awards ceremony today, which means on my break here I’m running to the toilet and glamorously doing one of my injections.

‘I have noticed over the past few days that I am getting a slight numbing tingling sensation in my left arm and a little bit in my left leg.’

She continued, “It feels like a dead arm, a dead leg, you know when you sleep on something funny.

“So at first I thought that was probably it, but then Dr. Google definitely scared me and made me think it could be something worse.”

In another update, Scarlette added: ‘So I called the clinic today, they said I needed to go to A&E asap. Just to double check that everything is okay, so I’ll do that tonight after the awards ceremony.

‘Make sure I don’t have any blood clots and also make sure there is no ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.

‘Now I only had a scan on Tuesday and it showed that everything was actually fine. So I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about, but if you’ve been through this process and if you’ve noticed that too, please let me know.”

Scarlette is freezing her eggs after admitting that ’37 came so quickly’ and hopes to protect her ‘future offspring’.

Freezing eggs means going through the IVF process, which typically takes two to three weeks.

This includes taking medications to stimulate egg production, and also to help the eggs mature.

She said: ‘I learned so much about my eggs and the process of vitrification at the @barbadosivf. I really wish this was something I was taught when I was younger, or at least talked about in more depth.

“Yes, my aunt and friends had encouraged me to do so in my younger years, but I didn’t think for a second that it would be something I had to think about, let alone think about at the time, but who would have thought that 37 would still come so soon?!”

The TV presenter added: ‘I really should have taken action when they first said it all those years ago.

‘I cannot turn back the clock now, but I can move forward as quickly as possible (armed of course with the new knowledge I now have) and not wait another minute to protect my future descendants.’
