Abandoned Grand Designs reservoir kit for conversion STILL not sold
AN UNSOLD underground reservoir that almost featured in Channel 4's hit series Grand Designs is due for a 'unique dream home' transformation.
The piece of land in Staffordshire would be transformed into a work of art for Kevin McCloud's property series.

The Channel 4 presenter once even took his camera crew and visited the Reservoir in Alsager, which was to be converted into a glamorous four-bedroom family home.
Unfortunately, the project never aired on Grand Designs after being canceled after a year of preliminary work.
In 2019, contractors were given the green light to lay the foundation for the luxury dream home on Ridley Reservoir.
After being given the green light in 2019, the foundations had already been laid for a luxury property on the Ridley Reservoir, which borders the Alsager Golf Course and is surrounded by open countryside.

The property has not been sold at auction since, even though it was the focus of an ambitious development project that would see the derelict site converted into a luxurious, modern mansion.
Earlier this year the owners put the unfinished project on the housing market for £850,000, but so far no one has made an offer.
The project went under the hammer on Monday for a value of £600,000, but the 24-hour online auction ended the next day, on January 23, with no buyers.
A spokesperson for Auction House Cheshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire said of the project ahead of the auction: “This is a project for someone with incredible vision, covering over 8,000 square meters of land.
“Located in the rural part of the Alsager with extensive views, it has development potential, perfect for a builder/developer or homeowner looking for a family home to turn into their own.”
The reservoir was closed in the 1960s, but reopened in March 2019 and planning permission was granted for a four-bedroom luxury home.
The current owner has laid the foundation for an 8,000 square foot building and has already removed the walls and driveway from the original landscape.
The new plan includes living space in the renovated underground water tank, a new swimming pool, a cinema and a roof terrace.
The property listing did not say how much it would cost to complete the planned house project, but current images show a derelict, unliveable underground ex-industrial plot with damp concrete floors and exposed wind block walls.
On last week's spin-off show Grand Designs, homeowners were ripped off by viewers for turning their property into an all-white home, despite having a toddler.
