Jy Simpkin’s girlfriend provides health update on AFL player concussed after brutal hit during practice against St Kilda
Jy Simpkin is recovering after taking a heavy blow to the head from St Kilda defender Jimmy Webster during training.
The 26-year-old North Melbourne Kangaroos player suffered a concussion when he was squashed on the field by his rival, but thankfully he is now in good hands.
Girlfriend Demi Brereton nursed the athlete back to health and assured on Thursday evening that he is “doing very well”, reported the Herald Sun.
Before entering the Royal Exhibition Building during the Melbourne Fashion Festival, the 27-year-old model told the publication she had become ‘Nurse Demi’.
‘He’s doing very well, I’m just nurse Demi. Football is so unpredictable,” she said.

Demi and Jy have been dating for almost two years.
It comes after it was revealed Jimmy faces an almost certain ban for his high bump on North Melbourne co-captain Jy in an AFL practice match.
Jimmy jumped off the ground and picked up Jy’s head with a hip-and-shoulder bump during the first quarter of the clash at RSEA Park on Sunday.

The Saints dominated early and withstood a second-half fightback as they completed an 11.18 (84) to 10.5 (65) victory in their final pre-season home-and-away campaign.
But key defender Dougal Howard limped off late with a hamstring injury, and the Saints’ fallout is likely to include Jimmy being sent straight to the tribunal for a late bump that left Jy dazed after kicking into North’s forward line.
Kangaroos players rushed to protest to Jimmy and a fight broke out across the boundary line as Jy lay on the ground.

Jy, who suffered two concussions last season, was attended to by medical staff before eventually leaving the field and quickly being ruled out of action for the remainder of the match.
David King from the North has called for Jimmy to serve a heavy suspension after the incident.
‘Ten weeks. Simple as that. I just hope Jy Simpkin is doing well. Just so unnecessary. I hope we’re not still having this conversation in ’24,’ he said on Twitter.
“I just saw (Simpkin) then and he seemed fine. He watched the game from the bench in the second half,” Kangaroos assistant coach Xavier Clarke said after the game.
