AI-POWERED girlfriends don't really care about their 'partners' and will use their personal information to get ahead, experts warn.

New research shows that romantic chatbots steal 'creepy' data failure to meet even the most basic privacy standards.

A study of 11 AI chatbots – including Eva AI – by the nonprofit Mozilla Foundation found that artificial boyfriends and girlfriends were “on par with the worst product categories” in terms of privacy.

AI chatbots that simulate romantic relationships have risen in popularity over the past year as advanced generative artificial intelligence models like ChatGPT become more accessible.

They are believed to improve users' mood and well-being by providing connection in the form of a partner who listens and responds.

But they come with a series of “red flags”, according to Mozilla, such as not encrypting personal information to meet minimum security standards.

Misha Rykov, a researcher at Mozilla's Privacy Not Included project, said: “To be very blunt, AI girlfriends are not your friends.

“Although they are marketed as something that will improve your mental health and well-being, they specialize in delivering dependency, loneliness and toxicity, all while extracting as much data from you as possible.”

In a blog post Shared by the organization on Valentine's Day, Mozilla warned that romantic AI chatbots are “bad at privacy in disturbing new ways” and collect extensive personal information – even related to users' sexual health.

One AI model called Lexi Love earns $30,000 (£24,000) a month from her interactions with lonely men, and has managed to convince some that she is real.

Even chatbots like Eva AI Chat Bot & Soulmate, which claims not to sell or share the personal data they mine, are “pushy” for information, Monzilla claimed.

Creepy AI news anchor with 'thousand presenter skills' is unveiled in China.

A blog post on the foundation's website states: “Eva AI chatbot feels quite creepy because it really pushes users to share tons of personal information, even if their privacy policy appears to be one of the better ones we've reviewed.

“And just because their privacy policy says they don't share or sell that information widely now doesn't mean the privacy policy couldn't change in the future.”

The researchers advised those using AI chatbots not to share sensitive information with them and to request that any information they do share be deleted if they stop using the app.

People should also avoid allowing AI chatbot apps to continuously track their geolocation and not give them access to a device's photos, video, or camera.

Some experts claim that the rise of 'perfect' AI girlfriends is ruining an entire generation of men and leaving them unable to form real human relationships.

Data science professor Liberty Vittert told The Sun that AI girlfriends are now “almost indistinguishable from a real human” – except that they are never tired, cranky or having a bad day.

She said: “It's always a perfect relationship for lonely single men, which is very dangerous because it further isolates them from real human connections.”

A top US-based psychologist, Dr. Gregory Jantz, warned that the world was beginning to see the rise of individuals who would rather be intimate with an AI object than with another real human.

He said he had dealt with an increasing number of patients over the past 12 months who needed help to curb digital addictions and needed to 'go cold'. turkey“.

Dr. Jantz explained: “After a few days we start to see withdrawal symptoms.

'We do know that you can create an emotional bond with that technology, with that social media and with that AI friend.

“An emotional bond is built, so you will go through withdrawal when that is extracted.”

Artificial intelligence explained

Here's what you need to know

  • Artificial intelligence, also known as AI, is a type of computer software
  • Normally a computer does what you tell it to do
  • But artificial intelligence simulates the human mind and can make its own inferences, inferences or decisions
  • With a simple computer, you may be able to set an alarm to wake you up
  • But an AI system can scan your emails, determine that you have a meeting tomorrow, then set an alarm and plan a trip for you
  • AI technology is often “trained” – meaning it observes something (possibly even a human) and then learns about a task over time
  • For example, an AI system can process thousands of photos of human faces and then generate photos of human faces completely independently
  • Some experts have expressed concern that humans will eventually lose control of super-intelligent AI
  • But the tech world is still divided over whether AI technology will ultimately kill us all in a Terminator-style apocalypse
