New Delhi: A man traveling on an Air India Mumbai-Delhi flight was arrested in Delhi for allegedly defecating, urinating and spitting into the air in the cabin of the plane. According to the FIR filed by the flight captain at the Delhi IGI Airport police station, on June 24, Air India’s flight AIC 866 from Mumbai to Delhi was in the air where a passenger, in seat No. 17F, defecated, urinated and spat into the aircraft on row 9 DEF of the plane.

Upon observing the “misconduct,” the cabin crew issued a verbal warning to the passenger that he was separated from the others, it said. The captain was also informed of the situation. A message was sent to the company who immediately sought security to escort the passenger upon arrival. The act left several passengers agitated, the FIR stated.

On arrival, Air India’s head of security was present and escorted the passenger to the local police station, it said. A senior official of the Delhi Police told ANI: “On the complaint of the flight captain, the Delhi Police registered a case – u/s 294/510 – at the IGI Police Station and arrested the accused passenger. We brought him before a court that released him on bail. Further research is ongoing.”

According to reports, the accused passenger, Ram Singh, is a cook who works in Africa. A case under sections 294 (obscene acts) and 510 (misconduct in public by an intoxicated person) of India’s penal code was registered, it added.

The FIR stated that fellow passengers were outraged and agitated by the misconduct and when the flight landed at Delhi airport, Air India’s head of security attended to the accused passenger and escorted them to IGI Airport police station.

On November 26, 2022, a man, who was in an intoxicated state, allegedly urinated on a fellow female passenger on board an Air India flight from New York to Delhi.

Ten days later, on December 6, another episode was reported of a “drunk” male passenger who allegedly “urinated” on a blanket belonging to a female passenger on a Paris-New Delhi Air India flight.

Earlier in April, a flyer allegedly urinated on a fellow passenger. Upon landing in the national capital, he was handed over to the police. In March, a 20-year-old Delhi student allegedly urinated on a flight coming from New York while drunk
