ALDI shoppers were left with mixed feelings after the discounter unveiled a new alcoholic drink based on a Cadbury classic.

The UK’s cheapest supermarket of 2023 recently launched the drink, inspired by chocolate lover’s favorite Creme Egg.

Aldi has launched an Irish cream flavour, based on a Cadbury Easter classic

Aldi describes the Chocolate Creme Irish Cream as “wonderfully smooth” with “delicate hints of chocolate and sweet vanilla”.

But the quirky drink has divided shoppers, with some baffled by the combination of flavours.

One said: “Is it a cream egg flavour? Intrigue and horror are equal parts,” while another said: “I imagine this is disgusting but I’m intrigued…”

Others were more optimistic, with one commenting, “This sounds great, be rude not to try it.”

And another added: “I told my wife not to buy this but to guarantee I’d see it one day and pick one up.”

Meanwhile, a third said: “Defo need to try this.

Aldi shoppers can buy a 70cl bottle of Creme Egg-themed Irish Cream for £7.69 at their nearest store.

You can find your nearest Aldi branch by using the retailer’s store locator on its website.

You enter your zip code and you will be shown the nearest branch.

Remember to always shop around when you buy something like this, because you might find it cheaper elsewhere.

‘Omg I need this’ say foodies after spotting a brand new drink in their local Aldi – and it’s hitting shelves just in time for Easter

You can use comparison sites like Trolley and Price Spy to find out how much other retailers are selling a product for.

You can also do a quick scan of the internet via the Google Shopping/Product tab.

That said, you won’t find this Creme Egg-themed Irish cream anywhere else, as it’s exclusive to Aldi.

It comes after Aldi shoppers went crazy after the discounter relaunched banoffee hot cross buns ahead of Easter.

One said: “I had these last year, they were delicious,” while a second said: “OMG I have to try these.”

Meanwhile, B&M shoppers are rushing out to buy a Dairy Milk and white chocolate marble Easter egg on the shelves for £10.

How to save on your supermarket shopping

There are plenty of ways to save money at your grocery store.

You can look for yellow or red stickers on products, which indicate when they are discounted.

If the food is fresh, eat it quickly or freeze it for another time.

Making a list should also save you money because you’ll be less likely to make hasty purchases when you go to the grocery store.

Choosing your own brand can be an easy way to save hundreds of dollars a year on your food bill, too.

This means ditching the ‘best’ or ‘luxury’ products and instead opting for ‘proprietary’ or value-for-money lines.

Many supermarkets have shaky fruit and vegetable programs where you can get cheap prices if they are misshapen or imperfect.

For example, Lidl runs its Waste Not scheme, offering 5kg boxes of fruit and vegetables for just £1.50.

If you’re on a low income and a parent, you could potentially get up to £442 a year in Healthy Start vouchers, which you can also use at the supermarket.

In addition, many municipalities offer supermarket vouchers as part of the Household Support Fund.

One fan even admitted, “I don’t often crave an egg, but this year I did.”

Meanwhile, another added: “Yes please, I need this.”

In other retail news, Aldi has confirmed it has made a huge change to its self-checkout to avoid customer disappointment.

Plus, Easter egg hunters have announced: “I’m stocking up” after a major supermarket slashed prices to £2.
