Seven Veils follows a theater director (Amanda) who deals with repressed trauma in the run-up to her production of the opera Salome.

In addition to starring in the film, the cast of Seven Veils was completed with artists such as Rebecca Liddiard, Mark O’Brien and Douglas Smith.

The film was directed and written by Atom Egoyan, who previously collaborated with the performer on the 2009 feature film Chloe.

Principal photography for the feature took place earlier this year, with much of the filming taking place in Toronto.

The film had its world premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival in September.

Ahead of the event, Amanda said she would not be promoting her film at the Toronto International Film Festival in a post shared to her Instagram account.

The artist was originally scheduled to appear at the star-studded event to give the feature some extra exposure, and SAG-AFTRA had given her permission to do so as well.

However, the actress wrote a post explaining why she chose not to attend the festival.

Seyfried began by writing that she would have liked to promote Seven Veils as originally planned.

She wrote: I am SO PROUD of this film and it hurts my heart not to be standing next to the beautiful people who helped make this special film at the premiere of @tiff_net next week.

“@sagaftra has given us permission to promote this completely, magically independent Canadian film, but it doesn’t feel right leading the party in light of the strike,” she wrote.

Seyfried concluded by writing that she would be happy to raise awareness of the film after the notable members of SAG-AFTRA and the WGA came to an agreement about their wages.

“I can’t wait to show you all SEVEN Veils when the time is right (and when we come to a fair agreement for actors and writers,” she wrote).
