An Eton teenager collapsed and died during a match while his father, a former pupil, was playing on an adjacent field.

The world-famous school lowered its royal standard flag to half-mast as counselors helped their friends cope with the devastating loss of the ‘outstanding’ Raphaël Pryor.

The 17-year-old fell in front of traumatized teammates during a ‘Field Game’ on Saturday afternoon Berkshire secondary school.

Bystanders rushed to the boy’s assistant and performed CPR on him in front of tearful, stunned friends.

When ambulances were called to the Eton Because the six-year-old’s father was informed – he was playing in another match nearby.

Despite the best efforts of medical services, the teenager was tragically pronounced dead.

On Saturday, nine school teams took on the Old Boys teams in their unique Field Game – a cross between football and rugby.

A source told The Sun: “Raphael was loved and adored by everyone who knew him. Everyone is shocked by what happened.

Eton director Simon Henderson told The Sun: “Raphael was an outstanding young man who lived with joy in his heart and shared it widely and powerfully. He had the brightest future ahead of him.

“In his life at Eton, Raphael brought so much to his friends and to those who taught and cared for him, including those who played with and against him on the playing field, where he excelled as one of the House Captains of Games.

“The entire Eton community is deeply saddened and shocked by this news. As we mourn his tragic death, our thoughts go out to Raphael’s parents, his family and his friends.”

Twenty British Prime Ministers have attended Eton, incl David Cameron, Boris Johnson and Harold Macmillan.

The Royal family have also sent members to the prestigious school, including both Prince William And Prince Harry.

The Field Game dates from around 1815. It is played on a football field with 11 players per team, but the ball is smaller and small, square netless goals are used.

There are scrums like rugby and the rules are so complex that it takes players two years to understand them.

The sport is only played at school and so the current Year 12 and 13 boys organize matches against Old Etonians every weekend.

PRINCE George was shown around the prestigious Eton College in June last year, suggesting he is about to follow in his father’s footsteps.

King Charles74, did not go to Eton and was sent to Gordonstoun in Moray, Scotland, which he hated and referred to as “Colditz in kilts”.

Other famous former Old Etonians are included Boris Johnson59, and fellow former Prime Minister David Cameron56. Actors Eddie Redmayne41, and Tom Hiddleston42, and James Bond author Ian Fleming also went there.

There are rumors that the Wales were also considering Kate’s former school, Marlborough College. Wantfor the education of their children.
