Popular online shooter fans are shocked to learn that their progress will be erased

ONE of the most competitive arenas of video games is that of online shooters.

Every day, millions of people log into their favorite games and compete against each other to reach the top.

If you want to do well, you have to be up to date with the latest trends, and that means putting a lot of time and effort into a particular game.

However, Apex Legends is going to shake that up by bringing everyone back to the same level.

Season 20 starts with a complete rank reset, with absolutely everyone starting at Bronze 4.

It doesn't matter where you were on the ladder before, you will be brought back to basics.

Players will then fight their way out of the bottom ranks with all skill levels mixed together.

The hope is that once people settle into their new ranks, the playing field will be much more level.

We spoke to lead progression designer Chris Cleroux to explain the change.

He says: “The past few seasons have led us down a path that hasn't worked out the way we wanted or hoped.

“It's not as rewarding as we would like for players. Frankly, we know we can do better.”

“The first part we focus on is trust.

“Not only do our players trust us to build systems they will enjoy, but they also trust that these systems will accurately reflect both their skills and the time they have spent in Apex Rated.”

In addition to the reset, changes are also being made to the way progress is assessed.

Kills, assists, and joins have different values ​​depending on your placement, so you can get more out of a combat victory than if you just sneaked into first place.

This means that winning matches won't be the only thing that helps you level up like in other games, and there will be more nuance.
