Army instructor ‘had sex with teenage recruit, 16, after asking to take charge of female trainees’
An army instructor had sex with a teenage recruit after asking to take charge of female trainees, a court-martial heard.
Cpl Christopher Irwin, 31, had pastoral and welfare responsibilities at the Army College Foundation.

He previously asked Top Brass if he could “lead the female section”.
Irwin began a consensual relationship with the 16-year-old and they had sex at his home in Oldham.
He was interviewed by service officers after leaving Harrogate college for the Parachute regiment.
During the investigation, he allegedly threatened to kill her sergeant’s dog and joked that he would “kill” her if she told anyone they had met.
The teenager told police: “I’m so scared of him – he doesn’t care about rules.”
Irwin admits he had sex with a child, but denies harassment.
