Kings Park, Perth: Australia Day revelers seriously injured by falling tree branch during fireworks show
Several people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a tree branch fell on them during Australia Day celebrations.
Dozens of people gathered at Kings Park in Perth on Friday evening to end the national holiday with fireworks.
It is believed a large tree branch fell during the show, resulting in a teenage boy and a woman in her 20s being rushed to hospital by paramedics.
A witness who was in the park when the branch came down saw two people lying on the ground who appeared to be unconscious.
She said others from the same group appeared to have suffered minor injuries.
“It was definitely a shock,” she told the newspaper ABC.
“Everyone rushed there and the ambulances arrived within about 10 minutes.”

Daily Mail Australia has contacted St John Ambulance Service for comment.
Kings Park is a popular meeting place on Australia Day because of its uninterrupted views of the Swan River, which was lit up with fireworks on Friday evening.
The city of Perth was one of the few municipalities in Washington to celebrate the national holiday this year, with a drone and light show for residents.
Thousands were expected to watch the display from various vantage points around the city, including Kings Park, South Perth and Elizabeth Quay.

Mosman Park, Cambridge, Victoria Park, Rockingham, Fremantle and Wanneroo will celebrate Australia Day on a different day this month.
Perth residents were also treated to water slides, amusements and freestyle motocross and BMX stunt shows at nearby Langley Park.
Meanwhile, a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, song, arts and culture was held. The Birak Concert in the Supreme Court Gardens.
