BBC breakfast star Charlie Stayt facing bankruptcy after being served petition by HMRC

BBC breakfast star Charlie Stayt is in danger of going bankrupt after filing a petition HMRC.

The morning show host, 61, and his wife, actress Annie Breckell, were £6,409 in the red when they filed their company accounts in December last year.

The couple live in a £2.3million four-bedroom house in Twickenham, South West London – were threatened with bankruptcy by the government agency on Monday, The sun reports.

Charlie joined Breakfast in 2006 and has co-hosted with other artists Naga Munchetty49, and Susanna Reid53.

He then also took over the role of main host on weekdays Then Walker left the show in April 2022.

His company – Stayt Limited – lists both Annie and Charlie as directors alongside Hogbens Dunphy Secretaries, an accountancy and tax adviser based in central London.

The nature of the company’s business consists of television programming and broadcasting activities.

The couple bought their home in Twickenham in 2002 for £800,000. Its value has now skyrocketed to a whopping £2.3 million.

They have been together for more than twenty years and have two children, Pheobe and Jake, who are both adults. It is assumed that they still live at home with their parents, Hello! reports.

Charlie started his career at ITN in 1995, before joining Five News, where he rose through the ranks to present their primetime bulletins.

The star has remained south despite his fellow stars moving closer to Media City in Salford, Manchester, where the BBC show is broadcast.
