A dangerous fad has led to performers being pelted with objects on stage during their performances – including a telephone, a teddy bear, a bunch of flowers and the ashes of a fan’s deceased mother.

The trend – which goes back decades but seems to have seen a recent surge – saw Bebe Rexha hit in the face with a phone last month.

This was followed by a fan throwing her mother’s ashes on stage at Pink’s concert – culminating in Adele pausing her recent Las Vegas show to cover the acts.

Adele jokingly “challenged” the audience to throw something at her. The singer, 35, said: “Have you noticed that people are forgetting f**king show etiquette right now?

Throwing s**t on stage, did you see them? I dare you, I dare you to throw something at me, I will kill you.’

She then took aim with her t-shirt gun and shot it at the crowd before telling them to ‘stop throwing things at the performer’, then started laughing and joked that she can ‘shoot things at the audience’.

Last month, singer/songwriter Bebe Rexha, 33, was playing a concert at The Rooftop on Pier 17 on her Best F’n Night Of My Life tour when she was punched in the face by a phone.

As she faced the audience, a phone was seen flying in from the crowd and hitting her right in the face.

After a moment of shock, the Grammy-nominated singer fell to her knees with her head down as several crew members rushed to her aid in the wings.

On video that surfaced after the incident, the man is found by security who pulls him out of the crowd and over the barrier.

Meanwhile, fans chanted “a**hole” and “that’s assault” as he was taken away.

The alleged telephone thrower is charged with harassment and assault.

The 42-year-old Pink recently received a number of items on stage with one fan even throwing her mother’s ashes.

She was singing her song Perfect when she saw the wheel of Brie De Meaux, a French cheese. The fan splashed the cash on the gift, which retails for between £60-£100+ for a 3kg block.

Pink gave her an air hug and thanked her before continuing with the song.

The singer also received a number of other gifts from her loyal fans during her two American Express Presents BST Hyde Park shows, including teddy bears, flowers and artwork.

But she was shocked when handed a bag of cremated remains and asked the audience to clarify that it was their mother’s remains – before saying, “I don’t know how to feel about that.”

After walking back to the stage from the center walkway, Pink added, “I have to say that was a first.”

Last month, Harry Styles was punched in the face by a bunch of flowers during a gig in Cardiff.

The pop star, 29, had just finished his penultimate UK date at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium as part of his sold-out Love On Tour concerts when the flowers flew after being thrown into the audience by a fan.

The pink flowers pelted him in the face as he hopped down a flight of stairs and turned to greet the crowd.

Harry was understandably confused by the incident, which was captured by a fan filming the star from the audience.

He was seen rubbing his face in shock after being hit, but shrugged it off and kept going.

Harry Styles was also hit in the eye by a cone after a fan threw a handful of candies on stage at a concert at The Forum in Los Angeles in November.

The singer grabbed his eye in a video captured of the moment by a fan after they were launched at him during a performance of his song, Kiwi.

Harry fans reacted angrily to the moment, claiming the star could have gone blind after the potentially dangerous incident.

Lady Gaga had a teddy bear thrown at her during a live performance in Toronto in August.

The superstar had to dodge the flying object midway through the song at the Rogers Center in Canada.

Footage from an audience member near the stage showed Gaga singing intensely into the microphone as the teddy bear was launched, causing her to quickly step aside to avoid it.

Then she carried on as if nothing had happened.

And back in 2019, Ariana Grande was pelted with a slice of lemon during her headlining set at the Coachella Festival.

In a fan-created video, the pop star was punched in the chest with the fruit as she took to the main stage to perform her song NASA in a wine-colored Michael Ngo outfit.

Stunned, she ran off stage and said, “What the f***? That’s because one of you threw a lemon at me! S***.’

How objects have been thrown at fans throughout history

Tom Jones, now 83, was known for fans to throw underwear at him during performances in his younger years. But in 2021, he said those days are long gone.

Ozzy Osbourne was performing at the Des Moines Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Iowa in January 1982 when a concertgoer threw a bat on stage.

Without a pause, the musician jerked his teeth into the creature.

His mouth filled with blood as the audience watched in horror.

It was a moment Ozzy would never survive, with the incident popping up in nearly every interview he’s done since.

The star has repeatedly insisted that he thought the bat was a rubber toy, complaining that it caused him to rush to the nearest hospital for a rabies shot.

Pink recently had a number of “gifts” while performing — including a cheese wheel, teddy bears, flowers, artwork — and a fan’s ashes.

Harry Styles has been the victim of things thrown at him several times, including candy and a bunch of flowers.

Singer Jason Derulo recently called on artists to end the trend of fans throwing objects at them while they perform.
