“I MUST try this!” Ben & Jerry’s fans go wild when the brand unveils a new ice cream flavor co-developed with runaway entrepreneurs

Ben & Jerry’s just unveiled a brand new ice cream flavor ahead of Refugee Week called Sunny Honey Home.

The tasty new creation is made with lemon flavored ice cream, sweet honey caramel swirls and lemon flavored biscuits.

The special thing about this particular flavor, however, is that the ice cream giant developed it together with eight entrepreneurs with a refugee background – inspired by the flavors of Morocco, Afghanistan and Syria.

The team teamed up with allies from The Entrepreneur Refugee Network (TERN), and proceeds from the new flavor will fund refugee-led start-ups.

The tubs are available exclusively from Co Op for £5.50 per tub and will hit stores on 19 June.

The project also provided mentoring and training to the participants to improve their skills in product research and development, marketing and communication.

One of the participants, Laila, told Subway: ‘I have such fond memories of lemon from my home country of Paktia, Afghanistan, so I knew exactly how the Sunny Honey Home flavor would make me feel when we came up with it.

“The first time I tried the final product was emotional for me. People say that if you make food with love, it will be better than the recipe and I think that’s what happened with Sunny Honey Home.’

Meanwhile, social media users went wild over the release, commenting, “This sounds great and I love that the proceeds are going to help people in need! I can’t wait to try it!’

Another wrote: ‘So excited for this! Looks delicious and for a good cause.’

A third added, “I’d like to try this.”

One commented, “When can I have this and when can I buy it?!”

“That sounds refreshing,” wrote another.

It’s not the first time Ben & Jerry’s has partnered with TERN, as in 2017 the two teamed up to create an initiative called UP Collective, a training program for people with a refugee background.

The ice cream company runs the program annually and provides participants with support with their business ideas and entrepreneurial training.

It comes after a group funded by Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen is running a campaign calling for the US to stop providing military support to Ukraine in its war with Russia.

The Eisenhower Media Network has promoted claims that the United States is spending too much money helping Ukraine fend off Vladimir Putin.

The EMN is run by a group called the People’s Power Initiative, of which Cohen is president and a major backer.

The longtime progressive Democrat and financier of Bernie Sanders has donated more than $1 million to the initiative through the Ben Charitable Trust, according to a report in the Daily Beast.

Cohen told the outlet he believes “the US should use its power to negotiate an end to the war, not prolong death and destruction by supplying more weapons.”

The project promotes the use of a group of military veterans as experts and experts willing to speak about the ongoing war abroad.

Some have said continued US military support to Ukraine prolongs and intensifies fighting between Russia and Ukraine and suggests that NATO’s expansion was one of the causes of the war.
