Bow Wow talks on podcast about addiction to a 'lean' drug mixture and painful withdrawal symptoms

Bow Wow talked about his battle with drug addiction, which once landed him in the hospital.
The 36-year-old rapper was asked earlier this week about his 2007 collaboration album with Omarion The art of dialogue podcast.
'I was standing on thin. I drank so much syrup,” Bow Wow said, referring to the combination of promethazine and codeine cough syrup mixed with soda.
“I drank that s*** like crazy,” he added.
Bow Wow, real name Shad Gregory Moss, said the BET documentary series Road To Platinum showed a lot of Styrofoam cups and Hawaiian Punch bottles in the studio.

'I was going crazy. That skinny thing got me confused,” Bow Wow said. “I was just always irritated.”
Bow Wow said his addiction worsened so much that he collapsed after performing with Chris Brown on opening night in Cincinnati.
“I went straight to Cincinnati University Hospital. My stomach was so upset that I went back home to Atlanta after the first show,” Bow Wow said.
He missed concerts in Baltimore, Detroit and Chicago because he was in the hospital.
Bow Wow said when he got home: 'the s*** is getting worse.'
“I'm throwing up, I'm shaking in bed, I'm sweating, I'm going through it,” he added.
The rapper said he was suffering from withdrawal symptoms from getting thin, but the hospitalization served as a wake-up call.
'My stomach was so damned. It felt like someone just had a knife [in me]… I've never felt this kind of pain in my life,” Bow Wow said.
The 36-year-old rapper, seen in New York City in December 2007, was asked about his 2007 collaboration album with Omarion on the podcast The Art of Dialogue earlier this week.

Appearing in Los Angeles in February 2007, the rapper said he was experiencing withdrawal symptoms from getting thin, but the hospitalization served as a wake-up call.
Bow Wow credited his late publicist Patti Webster, who died in 2013 at the age of 49, for keeping his drug addiction out of the public eye.
She released a statement about his collapse, blaming it on dehydration.
'[There] was not dehydration. I was devastated. We didn't want the world to know,” Bow Wow said.
Bow Wow said he overcame his addiction to hard drugs and has since learned his “limits.”
