Two of them managed to escape and were examined by paramedics from the West Midlands Ambulance Service.

The couple were both taken to hospital.

But police confirmed the third teen is still missing.

The lake has since been closed “until further notice” following the incident, with all footpaths taped off.

In a statement, the police said that a large number of emergency services are currently on site.

Police have urged the public to stay away from the area this morning while an investigation is underway.

Organizers from the Rudyard Lake Trust, which runs the site, provided an update to visitors on their Facebook page on Sunday.

It said: “Due to an incident last night, the lake and surrounding area is closed to both pedestrians and vehicles until further notice.

“Our parking lot and facilities are closed until further notice. Thank you in advance for your understanding.”
