Boyzone's Shane Lynch and Keith Duffy watched Chorley FC lose 2-1 at home to Solihull Moors on Saturday, amid reports the boy band are planning to buy the club.

Shane, 47, and Keith, 49, proudly wearing the team's shirt, attended the match with Westlife's Brian McFadden.

After the match, all three men were interviewed and seemed in good spirits despite the unfortunate loss.

Rumors swirled that Boyzone was planning to buy the club this week, with Shane and Keith's visit on Saturday reportedly sealing the deal.

Speaking about the purchase, a Chorley FC insider said: 'It's a really exciting move for Chorley FC.'

They continued: 'It's a gamechanger that has the potential to put the city in the spotlight like never before and generate a buzz and publicity that will shine a bright light on Chorley.

'Ronan, Shane and Keith were bursting with excitement. Boyzone's presence at next Saturday's match will undoubtedly create an electric atmosphere, filled with music, joy and a shared love of football and community.

“Chorley FC is a 140-year-old club and Chorley is a great city in a great location, perfect for Boyzone.”

The Irish group formed in 1993 and officially broke up in 2000, but have had numerous reunions since.

Original five-member member Stephen Gateley died in 2009 from complications from a congenital heart defect he didn't know he had.

In addition to buying the club, Boyzone is also reportedly preparing for a series of shows across the country.

In 2018, Boyzone said they were splitting up for good after releasing a final album dedicated to late bandmate Stephen Gately.

The band promised that they would call it quits after their 25th anniversary tour and album that year.

Boyzone was formed by Louis Walsh, who also created Westlife, and he managed Ronan Keating when he went solo.

Louis, 71, was also part of the original judging panel of The X Factor alongside Sharon Osbourne and Simon Cowell.

Boyzone has had six UK number one singles and of the 24 singles they released in Britain, 21 entered the top 40.

They have also had five UK number one albums.
