Heating expert Matthew Jenkins, from MyJobQuoteshared the four habits you need to cut now to prevent mold from spreading.

Mold grows by producing small particles called spores. These float in the air and can grow quickly and leave stains on your tiles and caulk.

The NHS states that if you have damp and mold in your home, you are more likely to have breathing problems, respiratory infections, allergies or asthma.

Damp and mold can also damage the immune system.

Matthew told the Express: “If there is not enough ventilation and careless daily habits, mold can develop.

It is very important for homeowners to think about their daily habits and take steps to reduce moisture levels.

By letting fresh air in and keeping the environment tidy, we can reduce the risk of mold.”

Here are some of his best tips to eradicate the problem.

TOWEL DRY

After showering, it is common to leave wet towels on the floor, but this can cause huge problems with mold.

It’s the perfect ‘breeding ground’ for mold because they don’t get much light and can’t dry if they’re all crowded together.

Hanging them to dry reduces the chance of mold.

But that’s not all, putting wet towels in the laundry basket is also a big no-no.

The expert said: “When it’s time to wash your towels, make sure they are completely dry before putting them in the laundry basket, otherwise mold can grow in your basket and on other garments that come into contact with it.”

The mirror A study by Warm This Winter shows that 29 percent of people in Great Britain often or sometimes have mold in their home.

Messy SPACE

A messy or dirty home keeps the air from moving as much and makes it harder to spot the early signs of mold.

He added: “These all create pockets of stagnant air where moisture can build up, encouraging mold growth. Regular tidying and organizing can improve air circulation and therefore minimize mold spores.”

Cleaning Tips and Tips

Here are some tips to help you clean your home like a pro:

HOT AND STEAMY

A hot and steamy shower is something we all like to do, but this can obviously cause condensation and mold to form.

The excess moisture can quickly cause mold spores to form.

While you don’t have to give up your hot showers, the heating expert does recommend allowing air to flow into the bathroom afterward by opening the windows or purchasing a dehumidifier.

IN A TWIST

We’re all guilty of forgetting to empty the washing machine.

But if you leave clothes in there, mold can grow on your clothes and in the machine.

He advised: “Mold can also grow in the washing machine when it is not being used. The washing machine is usually a damp area and even after you have used it, it is a good idea to leave the door open.”
