Camila Cabello calls reunion with Shawn Mendes a ‘fun time’ as she reveals why they broke up again: ‘This doesn’t feel right’

Camila Cabello shed light on her brief reconciliation with ex Shawn Mendes last year and spilled the tea on her trip to the Caribbean with Drake on the latest episode of Call Her Daddy.

During a performance op Podcast by Alex CooperCamila, 27, talked about making out with Shawn, 25, at Coachella and her eyebrow-raising vacation with Drake, 37, last year.

Camila and Shawn dated from 2019 to 2021 before rekindling their romance last year. However, their reunion did not last long and they eventually went their separate ways again.

“It wasn’t even a decision, I think you’re just like, ‘Yeah, this isn’t really right, it doesn’t fit,'” she said of the second breakup.

“Luckily I was at a place in my life where it took me less time to realize that. It took less time for both of us to say, ‘This doesn’t feel right, and we really don’t have to try so hard to make it work,'” she explained.

‘It’s okay. This doesn’t feel good. Let’s be friends. “I love you, it’s all good, let’s move on, you go do your thing…become the person you become, and I’ll be rooting for you,” she said.

Speaking about their reconciliation, she called it a “nice moment.”

‘I’m quite impulsive in that respect, I would say. “If I feel it, I say it, and I’m not very good at not doing that,” she said. “Then the worst place to live in is my mind, and then I’m like Ryan Gosling in The Notebook building a house for this person.

“I’d rather say it and see what happens, and then wake up the next day and find it’s heavily documented,” she added.

‘I chose that route. It is what it is. It was a great route, it was a fun time. It was a nice moment.’

Even though they are no longer together, she still spoke highly of her ex, praising him as a “good guy.”

”I will always care about him and love him. He’s such a good person and I’m lucky because some people have terrible exes and he doesn’t. He is a very nice, good person,” she said.

She also enjoyed her trip to Turks and Caicos in December with Drake.

The duo was spotted jet skiing together and having an intimate conversation at the Turks and Caicos Islands hotspot Noah’s Ark Beach Club, in images obtained by Pop Crave.

‘First of all, I wouldn’t say ‘immediately on holiday’. It was vacation, plus work,” she said.

“You know what, I love that man. I love him. We all love him,” she added.

But she declined to answer a question about whether they had ever been in a relationship: ‘[Have I ever had a] nice artistic collaboration with him? Maybe or not.’

Camila called the vacation a “friends trip” as she revealed how they both ended up together in the Caribbean.

The singer described how she listens to Drake’s tunes while writing her own music. She contacted him asking if he wanted to listen to her new album.

“So we hung out, I played him my album,” she said. “He loved it… it was such a surreal moment for me too, to have Drake play my songs.”

‘It is a dream. “I remember being there and thinking, wow, this is so damn sick and he’s so generous and so kind and — but anyway, I didn’t like just going on vacation with him,” she explained .

“It was like a vacation, a work thing. But honestly, I will say I love him. And that’s such a fun part of this whole experience.”
