Police in Ottawa late Wednesday evening were investigating the deaths of six people, including four children, who were found in a home in a residential area on the city’s south side.

Shortly after police received several emergency calls to the home around 11 p.m., a man was arrested in connection with the killings, police said. Investigators remained in the home more than twelve hours later.

The names of the suspects and the victims were not immediately released, nor was the manner of death. Police planned a news conference later on Thursday.

Ottawa Police Chief Eric Stubbs in conversation with CTV News Ottawa, said investigators do not believe the deaths were “a domestic or intimate partner-related incident.” In subsequent interviews throughout the morning, he declined to provide additional details.

Mark Sutcliffe, the mayor of Ottawa, offered his condolences to the family in a speech rack posted on
