Cardi B and estranged husband Offset sued over unpaid rent and ‘significant property damage’ at the Beverly Hills home where the couple temporarily lived

Cardi B and her estranged husband, Offset, have been sued for unpaid rent and causing “significant” damage to the Beverly Hills home the couple has been renting since early 2022.

The lawsuit comes shortly after the Bodak Yellow rapper, 31, recently confirmed her split from the Blame It On Set hitmaker, 32 – after they tied the knot in 2017.

Documents obtained by TMZ stated on Friday that both Cardi and Offset left the lavish home in October without notice and had reportedly fallen behind on both rent and utility payments.

The home’s owners also claim the former couple left behind “significant property damage.”

Some of the damage includes scratches on the tile floor, broken furniture and ‘burn marks’ on objects such as tables and cupboards.

According to the documents, the estimated cost to repair all damage incurred totals approximately $85,000.

According to the outlet, the owners made several attempts to “fix” the problem, but were unsuccessful.

The new lawsuit comes amid Cardi B and Offset’s split – which first came to light earlier this month in December.

The artists have welcomed two children during their tumultuous relationship: daughter Kulture, five, and son Wave, two.

The couple sparked speculation that their marriage was on the rocks when they unfollowed each other on Instagram – shortly after the singer uploaded a cryptic message to the social media platform.

At the time, she took to her stories and simply wrote to her fans and followers, “You know, sometimes you just outgrow relationships.”

Shortly after, she appeared on Instagram Live and indicated that she wanted to make the new year all about herself TMZ.

“In terms of career, financial and personal life, I know where I want to be next year. You know what I mean? You gotta get rid of the dead weight, and when it comes to the dead weight,” she said in the clip.

‘I say mentality, procrastination, laziness and people, because many people are also dead weight. And sometimes, you know, as a Libra I feel like when it comes to people, we always want to protect their feelings.”

‘We always want to protect their image. We just want to protect people. Like how they would feel or what life would be like [be without me] for them? F*** that,” the artist said. “Next year is all about me.”

Cardi B – whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar Cephus – later took to Instagram to confirm the split, per E! News.

The I Like It rapper revealed to her fans and followers during an Instagram Live that she had been “single for a minute” but admitted she “didn’t know how to tell the world.”

Despite the divorce, the star positively stated that she was “curious about a new life, a new beginning.”

However, not long after, the heartbroken artist took part in another Instagram Live.

She broke down in tears during an emotional tirade about her estranged husband, criticizing him for playing with her emotions at her “most vulnerable moment.”

During the video, the mother-of-two called out her ex-partner for being deceitful in a profanity-ridden rant.

“A muthaf**ka will play in your f**king face over and over again,” Cardi said.

“This n***a likes to play games with me when I’m at my most vulnerable. When I don’t have the most confidence. He likes to play games with me because he knows I’m not an easy girl.’

She added: “Yesterday I could have been gone. I could have chilled. I could have been this and that. He knows I’m in my house. He knows I’m chilling. He knows I don’t do most of it, and I really spared you. I really spared you.”

The WAP hitmaker then claimed that Offset had been doing her “dirty” for “so many f*cking years” while she helped his “mother king a**.”

“Not even a thank you I got from you, b**ch a**.” And it’s so crazy that I have to go to the damn internet because every time I tell you something, you don’t take it seriously,” she concluded.

The fiery rant was notably reposted to Baller Alert’s Instagram.

Amid their marital problems, Offset was accused of cheating on Cardi B with Chrisean Rock — although he has since dismissed the claims from Rock’s ex, Blueface.

He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and wrote: “I never talk or touch that lady. Real talk man, you need help!’

The Open It Up hitmaker recently celebrated his 32nd birthday in Miami. He was spotted partying with a woman called Jade – whose real name is Sarah Wattley – at a club in the city.

Jade and Cardi B were notably involved in an altercation in 2018 in New York, which resulted in the singer pleading guilty to two misdemeanor charges.

With the holidays in full swing, the rapper has seemingly put the breakup aside, sharing a video to her Instagram Stories on Friday during a trip to New York.

She filmed herself getting laser hair removal and added a Statue of Liberty emoji to the bottom of the reel.
