A 15-year-old student at the school said the incident was a frightening situation.

“We shouldn’t come to school and [had to] fear for our lives…school is meant to be a safe place for us, where we are to learn and grow as people, without being harmed,” she told the ABC.

‘Two boys from my class were talking about it. And at first I thought it wasn’t real because the school didn’t evacuate us.

“And eventually we saw officers wandering around the open space outside, and that’s when we realized maybe it was true.

“When the bell rang, we went to see where it was, and there were officers everywhere. Then we kind of realized, ‘oh, this is happening, this is real.’

Police said there is no threat to the school or the wider community and the situation is under control.

More to come.
