MANY women choose to postpone their pregnancy announcement until after the 12-week ultrasound.

But for celebrities in the spotlight, hiding them can be trickier, with paparazzi at every turn, ready to catch them from all angles.

However, celebrity stylist Ellis Ranson has revealed the clever fashion tricks she’s used to help several famous faces hide their budding bumps a little longer, including Kate Ferdinand, Dani Dyer and Ferne McCann.

The fashionista, who is always one of the first to know about a pregnancy, explains how she sits down with the celebrity and discusses how long they want to keep it a secret and what events they will attend during that time.

She goes on to say that miniskirts and blazers are always a safe option because the legs usually stay the same until later in the pregnancy, while blazers are boxy so are a great way to hide the bump.

Ellis points out that when Kate Ferdinand kept her pregnancy with her second baby Shae a secret last year, they opted for sweaters, long skirts and trendy trench coats.

“We put the outfits on at the narrowest part of her waist to create an illusion,” she says The Express.

“Anything that goes in the waist and then goes out is ideal. You can even still show skin if you use this method.”

Love Island winner Dani Dyer is another of Ellis’ celebrity clients and turned to her when she became pregnant with twins Summer and Star with footballer Jarrod Bowen in May last year.

“Dani is very small and was expecting twins, so she was a challenge,” the fashion expert admits.

“High-waisted skirts were a style we loved using together.”

One of Ellis’s best tips includes choosing dark colors, as they hide whatever you’re trying to hide by inadvertently focusing your attention on what’s in view, including the hands and feet.

Frankie Bridge’s £35 River Island ballet pumps are an almost identical dupe for Miu Miu’s luxury version, but they’re a whopping £1.2k cheaper

She also recommends patterns and trendy baggy jeans, but warns that a neutral color palette and form-fitting garments are likely to draw attention to a growing belly.

Meanwhile, reality star Ferne McCann welcomed son Finty with her partner Lorri Haines in July.

She enjoyed wearing loungewear during her early pregnancy, but Ellis says this changed once the secret got out.

She notes that, unlike previous years, an increasing number of celebrities are enjoying showing off their bumps thanks to “creative and exaggerated options.”
