Chevy Chase, 80, falls off stage at National Lampoon’s Christmas holiday event after arriving on stage in a wheelchair – a day after insisting he is in ‘great’ shape

Chevy Chase shocked fans when he fell off the stage during a National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Q&A in Buffalo, NY on Wednesday.

The actor, 80, who recently insisted he was in ‘amazing’ health, looked in good spirits as he attended the screening, which saw the star take to the stage in a wheelchair before walking towards the crowd at Shea’s Performing Arts Center.

However, the actor stepped off the stage and fell to the ground – to the audience’s gasp.

He was then helped back to his feet and appeared in good spirits, handing his signature baseball cap to relieved fans.

A spokesperson for Chase told DailyMail.com: ‘He fell on the part of the stage that wasn’t well lit, but thanks to all his falls on SNL it was like he was riding a bike again. Just a little boo-boo. Everthing okay.’

This comes after Chase’s manager insisted the star is in ‘amazing’ health, despite the National Lampoon actor causing concern when he was pictured in a wheelchair while supporting his good friend Sylvester Stallone over the weekend.

The actor, who is currently in the middle of his festive tour of the country, traveled to Philadelphia on Sunday for the opening of Sylvester’s Rocky memorabilia store.

Chevy, who is famous for his appearance in the National Lampoon comedy film franchise, was pictured in a wheelchair before getting up to pose for photos with his 77-year-old friend.

Fans feared for his health after the images emerged, but Chevy representatives have since dispelled any concerns about the actor, telling DailyMail.com that he is in good shape.

“His health is great and his tour, A Live Conversation With Chevy Chase, is sold out nationwide,” they said in a statement.

“He uses the chair sometimes because of all the airport travel — even at age 80.”

They added: ‘He doesn’t need any rest. His tour has been extended over the holidays.”

Chevy was seen waving to guests at Sunday’s event before encouraging them to shout ‘Two for one!’ Rocky and Clark Griswold” – a reference to one of his lines from the National Lampoon films.

His appearance marked two years since he was hospitalized with near-fatal heart failure.

The actor and comedian opened up about the health concerns last year, telling CBS’ Sunday Morning, “Oh, we took it down. I didn’t need it. It’s much better now.’

Chevy is currently touring the country with his A Live Conversation With Chevy Chase. The Q&A sessions, which kicked off Nov. 26 in Chicago, follow special screenings of the beloved 1989 film National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, starring lead actor Clark W. “Sparky” Griswold Jr. played.

Chevy and his wife Jayni then share their behind-the-scenes stories from the set and answer questions from the audience of fans.

During the six-date tour he will perform on stage in New York, Minnesota and New Jersey, as well as in Pennsylvania, Indiana and Wisconsin.

The tour comes three months after Chevy revealed his time on the sitcom Community, playing the politically incorrect millionaire of Hawthorne Wipes CEO Pierce Hawthorne, admitting he “felt happier when he was alone.”

On the WTF Podcast he said that while he “didn’t mind” [his] character’, ‘he didn’t want to be surrounded by that table every day, with those people.’

He added: ‘It was too much. I honestly felt like the show wasn’t funny enough for me in the end.

‘I felt a bit limited. Everyone had their piece, and I thought they were all good. It just wasn’t going fast enough for me.’

Chevy was fired from the critically acclaimed NBC comedy 11 years ago for using the N-word in front of co-stars Yvette Nicole Brown and Donald Glover.
