Christine explained honestly, “I don't want them to live the same life I do. I was a recluse for almost eight years, I hardly left the house and when I went to the store I went at two or three in the morning.

'I'm not very good at maintaining friendships. Not because I'm not nice, because people get along with me and I and I like everyone, but then if I really try to build a friendship I would struggle with the social side of things.

“I wouldn't go out, I wouldn't go on a girls' holiday and I wouldn't go out for dinner and things like that, so I would never be able to keep up with the friendship side of things.”

The mother-of-three also opened up about how not realizing she was autistic as a child had a negative impact on her, as people around her didn't know what was going on and she was forced to leave school at the age of 14 to leave.

Christine explained how not being able to cope with the school environment unfortunately led to an eating disorder, as she found it particularly difficult to be in the school canteen.

She explained, “I couldn't cope in class. I couldn't cope in the canteen, which unfortunately led to an eating disorder that is quite common in autistic women, mainly because I don't like eating with people.

'When I was a teenager, the doctors would just say, “Oh, you know, she's a teenage girl, she's obviously worried about her figure and the way she looks,” and that wasn't true at all.

'No one has ever asked me what it is about the canteen that you don't like and if they had, I honestly don't know if I could have expressed it because I didn't understand it myself.

'But it was just such a mess. The smell, the sound, the taste of the food, not knowing what would be on the menu every day, and then having to think: “Okay, where are we going to sit? Who should I go to because I didn't have one” Friends ? So it was all just too much and it made me feel pretty bad.”

Discussing her diet now, Christine admitted that she still struggles with eating and follows a typical autistic beige diet.

'I try to take care of myself as best I can. I take vitamins, but I still follow a very typical autistic diet, which is like a regular beige food diet. Everything is dry.'

Vogue confirmed to Vogue that she eats more or less the same thing every day, asking: “So what's your breakfast, lunch and dinner?”

“So toast is a favorite at my house for me and the kids. Toast, bagels, chicken nuggets and fries for the kids are always popular, plain pasta.

“I just don't like something too wet like lasagna, you'll never see that in my house.”
