Coleen Nolan, 58, admits she 'can't stop crying' and 'lost a best friend' as daughter Ciara, 22, makes a HUGE decision… Janet Street-Porter orders the star to 'GROW UP'

Coleen Nolan has revealed she 'can't stop crying' after her daughter went on a trip with no set end date.

Speaking on Loose Women, the panelist, 58, explained how her daughter Ciara, 22, has decided to embark on a one-way travel adventure with her boyfriend.

Discussing 'Empty Nest Syndrome', the former singer admitted to fellow panellists Ruth Langsford, Janet Street-Porter and Linda Robson that she has struggled to cope with the huge family change.

Coleen said: 'They've worked and saved really hard and I'm so proud of them both and her, but honestly I just can't stop crying…

“But I try not to do it in front of her because I'm excited and proud, because it's a great thing to do. But it's like losing my best friend.' Janet then stunned the panel by demanding Coleen grow up.

Coleen shares Ciara with her ex-husband, guitarist Ray Fensome, whom she married in 2007, but they later divorced in 2018.

The TV favorite also has Shane, 35, and Jake, 31, from her first husband, EastEnders star Shane Richie. The couple married in 1990 but divorced nine years later.

Ruth pointed out that Coleen will have a hard time adjusting to her daughter's absence while Ciara helps her “live her life.”

Coleen agreed: “She is the mother of the house. My son texted me the other day and said, “This is going to be good for you, Mom, because you need to grow up.”

The Blackpool-born star went on to explain that not only does Ciara help out a lot around the house, but she also does a lot of the cooking, which eases the workload at home while her mother gets ready for her upcoming one-woman tour.

'It's just very stressful. The Empty Nest Syndrome is real!' Coleen admitted emotionally.

But Janet joked: 'I'm only speaking for her: she should be able to live her own life.'

“Oh, she can. I don't have to like it, Janet,” Coleen replied, with Janet commenting, “I know you don't like it, but you need to grow up a little, Coleen. I never thought I would say these words. But you have to make it yourself.'

Although Ciara had already left her parental home in October last year, the Loose Women star found it more difficult to cope with her daughter's holiday abroad.

Earlier last month it was revealed that Coleen's son Shane Jr. reportedly split from his Miss Great Britain wife Maddie Wahdan – amid cheating allegations.

Shane Jr. married Maddie in July 2022 after dating for six years, and it was claimed that Maddie discovered that singer Shane Jr. had been unfaithful earlier that same month and immediately divorced him.

His mother Coleen has spoken openly in the past about his father's infidelity after they married between 1990 and 1999.

Maddie is now said to be living in Deal, Kent, while Shane Jr. is close to his family in Blackpool.

A source said The sun: 'It's sad that the relationship ended abruptly so soon after they tied the knot.

“Shane admitted he cheated. Maddie can no longer see a way out of the betrayal, so she ends their marriage.

'Coleen is very angry because she adored Maddie and sees her as another daughter. She is disappointed that history is repeating itself. It's a case of like father, like son.

“Maddie is devastated. She is firm in her decision to move on with her life. She would never be walked over.”

Coleen said in 2018 that she regretted joining Shane Snr. after finding out he cheated while they were together.

'I stayed two years too long. But I was deeply in love with him. For me, nothing was missing in our relationship…

'He said that too. He said he doesn't really understand what happened. Well, he does – he wanted to have his cake and eat it too…

'I loved him, but in the end I thought, 'I'm not one of those women who keeps turning a blind eye.' I think we did well. We have remained good friends.'

Shane Jr. and Maddie married in front of their loved ones at Rushton Hall in Kettering in July last year.

He popped the question on Christmas Eve 2020 during a family game of charades.

Coleen recalled on an episode of Loose Women: 'Christmas was obviously very different, but on Christmas Eve my son Shane proposed to his now fiancée, we played a game where we had to guess what the person was going to say… she was crying, I cried.'

Asked if she was aware of the proposal, Coleen said: 'We knew a month in advance that Maddie was originally going to go back to her mother at Christmas, if the time came.

“He stood behind her and said, 'The ring is down there.'”
