Country music legend withdraws from Tamworth festival after horrific arm injury
Country legend John Williamson has withdrawn from the Tamworth festival after suffering a horrific arm injury.
The 78-year-old singer-songwriter underwent emergency surgery after tearing the skin on his left arm and injuring muscles and nerves while working on his Gold Coast property.
John shared the sad news with fans on Wednesday alongside a photo of his heavily bandaged arm.
'I'm recovering from hand surgery after an accident at #willoshed. My rock sculptures and concerts have been paused for about a month,” he wrote.
'I apologize to everyone who was looking forward to my Tamworth concert and also to Redland, Ipswich and Toowoomba'

He continued: “I'll see you in Tamworth for the Golden Guitar Awards and maybe a cold beer instead.”
Many fans expressed their concerns and sent him their well wishes.
'Get better soon Jan. Keep playing. So appreciate your songs, I absolutely love them, man. Keep it up,” one person wrote.
'That doesn't look good right now, but medical science has become incredible and can produce great results. All the best, old mate,” another commented.

The singer was due to perform at the Tamworth festival on January 26.
His shows in Redland, Ipswich and Toowoomba in early February will be rescheduled for a later date this year.
