He said the song he recently wrote “talks about things that have never been reported in the media, things that can be powerfully communicated through art.”

It comes after the Logie winner revealed his performance on last year’s season of SAS Australia helped him overcome ‘extreme social anxiety’.

The star revealed he was struggling to ‘trust people’ while speaking to the Sunday Telegraph, saying he had ‘suffered trauma’ after being found not guilty following a series of assault charges.

“For me, after experiencing persistent trauma for too many years, being with these amazing people has reignited something deep within me,” McLachlan said of starring in the show.

McLachlan was charged with assault and indecent assault following complaints from female co-stars in a stage production of the Rocky Horror Picture Show in Melbourne in 2014, in which he played the role of Frank-N-Furter.

He strongly denied the allegations against him.

During the case, McLachlan faced months of investigation, with him and his partner Vanessa Scammell forced to fight their way through the media outside a Melbourne court.
