Massive crash on the M1 at Beenleigh between truck and bus full of people, leaving eight injured and causing traffic chaos

Eight people have been injured, two seriously, in a collision between a bus and a truck on a busy Queensland highway.

Emergency services were called to the M1 near the Beenleigh exit between Brisbane and the Gold Coast at around 10am on Wednesday.

It is understood the bus had a full load of passengers, with ambulance crews assessing 60 people and treating at least eight – two of whom were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Traffic was affected as two of the four lanes were closed as cleaning crews had to deal with a fluid leak from the bus.

The truck driver was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

One of the bus passengers, a teenager, was taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital with serious head and leg injuries and is reportedly in a stable condition.

Six other passengers were transported to Logan Hospital with minor injuries.

Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident and the Forensic Accident Unit investigated the scene.
