The Manchester United and Real Madrid legend performed the gesture during a recent clash between Al-Nassr and Al-Shabab.

The 39-year-old helped his side beat their rivals in Riyadh 3-2 in the Saudi Pro League match on Sunday.

However, video footage showed Ronaldo holding his ear and repeatedly raising his hand near his pelvis as he appeared to gesture in immediate response to Al-Shabab fans.

Background chants of “Messi” could also be heard, referencing the Portuguese icon’s long-standing rivalry with Argentina’s Lionel Messi.

Now the Saudi Football Federation (SAFF) Disciplinary and Ethics Committee has announced that the goal machine will be banned for his actions.

In a statement released this morning, Saudi leaders confirmed that Ronaldo will miss Al-Nassr’s next match at home to Al-Hazm on Thursday and will also have to pay a fine of £4,190.

That goes to Al-Shabab to cover the costs of the club filing the complaint, and half of that amount also goes to the federation.
