And because children tend to move (or even leave), more and more people are relying on florists who offer delivery as part of their service.

But while outsourcing your Mother’s Day gift to a reputable florist is an attractive prospect, you’ll ultimately wish you hadn’t put in the effort.

Officially, this day is dedicated to celebrating the special women in your life, but for some it was a failure – not because of family strife, but because of the failures of florists.

Sharing photos of their disappointing deliveries alongside images of what they were promised, a number of people have blamed brands such as Interflora, Bloom & Wild and Moonpig for ruining Mother’s Day.

One person warned not to buy from London florist Bloom & Wild ‘unless you want to make your mum cry’, while another complained they spent £63 at Interflora and received a ‘scarce’ bouquet of ‘withered’ flowers.
