And now fans of the show have unearthed a 2006 episode of the show whose events bear an uncanny resemblance to the Titanic submarine missing – a tourist submarine that mysteriously “disappeared” with five passengers on board after diving to find a to take a look at the sunken shipwreck of the Titanic in the Atlantic Ocean on Sunday.

A massive search and rescue operation is currently underway to locate the missing submarine, as it is feared that the oxygen on board is likely to run out today.

As rescuers frantically search for the missing submarine in a desperate attempt to save the passengers on board before they run out of oxygen, The Simpsons seemingly predicted this disaster more than 17 years ago.

On the January 8, 2006 episode of the classic show, Homer Simpson is reunited with his long-lost father Mason Fairbanks, a deep sea treasure hunter. Mason gives a disturbing speech before they go on a deep-sea mission to hunt for lost treasure underwater.

Homer and Mason then go underwater in two submarines and come across a shipwreck in which they discover two treasure chests – the treasure of ‘Pijo Mojado’. An excited Homer radios his friends that they have found the treasure and they are taking it ashore and “straight to the bar” (Moe’s bar).

However, Homer loses track of Mason’s submarine and sees a glowing irradiated fish and as he follows it gets stuck in underwater coral debris. Homer runs out of oxygen and a low oxygen light flashes before he loses consciousness.

Homer Simpson is lucky as always despite his antics, and at the end of the episode we see him waking up in a hospital after three days surrounded by his wife Marge and his children, Lisa, Bart and little Maggie.

The episode’s uncanny resemblance to current events has puzzled fans of the long-running TV series, as they claim it predicted the Titanic submarine’s disappearance.

Clips from the episode have gone viral on social media platforms in recent days, with users claiming that the show predicted the tragic incident.

“I don’t know what surprises them about the lost submarine in the Atlantic going down to see the remains of the Titanic, the Simpsons had already warned us,” one user wrote.

“Crazy how the Simpsons already predicted about the missing sub,” read another comment.

“Simpsons was the first time in history that a sinking submarine was shown in the media. This is no coincidence,” said a third user.
