Why Dream Team players should dump Tottenham players ahead of Gameweek 25

0

BEFORE thinking about anything else this week, the Dream Team managers need to dump their Tottenham players as soon as possible.

This is an urgent matter, not because Ange Postecoglou's men lost to Wolves last time out, but simply because they are the only team not to have a single fixture in Gameweek 25.

Spurs were due to play Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend, but that ill-tempered derby has been postponed as the Blues play Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

Luton are the other top team without a weekend fixture (they visit Anfield tonight instead), but they won't be blank in Gameweek 25 due to their FA Cup match in midweek.

Spurs were knocked out of the prestigious cup competition in the fourth round by Manchester City and so Son Heung-min (£4.8m) and friends won't be back in action until early March.

With nine teams playing two matches in Gameweek 25 and ten playing once, Spurs are the unfortunate outliers.

Needless to say, without any opportunity to score points, their players will inevitably slide down the rankings for the rest of February.

At the time of writing, James Maddison (£4.1m) features in 12.7% of teams, while Pedro Porro (£3.6m), Son and Guglielmo Vicario (£2.3m) are also relatively popular are.

When it comes to potential replacements, focusing on busy assets is always a wise move.

Pedro Neto (£3.4m) will play Sheffield United and Brighton in Gameweek 25 and has scored 16 goals in 19 appearances this season.

Pascal Gross (£4.4m) has moved into joint fourth place among midfielders, level with Cole Palmer (£4.4m), after a fine period of form.

Due to the next 16 games in the Europa League, the Brighton midfielder is set for three consecutive double game weeks, starting with Everton and Wolves.

For comparison, Roberto De Zerbi's men will play six games, while Spurs will only do so twice in the next three matchweeks.

Liverpool will also play six matches in the same time frame, with Man City, Aston Villa, West Ham and Bournemouth each having five matches.

Consequently, familiar favorites from Anfield and Etihad should continue to flourish – standard practice.

Elsewhere, the likes of Ollie Watkins (£4.4m), Dominic Solanke (£3.9m) and Jarrod Bowen (£4.7m) certainly also have the potential to deliver ample returns, although the form of the latter has declined recently.

Whatever route the players decide to take in the future, it is imperative that they replace their Spurs stars before Saturday's 2pm deadline.
