Two men have been killed after a light aircraft crashed near the entrance to a golf course.

The light aircraft crashed on Bruckner Hill Road at Boonah Golf Club, near Dugandan in Queensland's Scenic Rim, at 11.57am on Sunday.

No emergency call was made from the plane, the police believe.

Details such as the ages of the men and the experience of the pilot have yet to be confirmed.

Acting Inspector Kerry Olsen said it appeared the pilot was attempting to land at Boonah Airfield when the plane crashed.

She said the scene would have “absolutely” been confronting for first responders.

'Tragically, two people were killed in that accident. Emergency services are still on scene,” she said on Sunday.

“We have police with the families of the two people who were on that plane. We wish these families all possible support.'

It is understood local golfers who witnessed the crash called emergency services as paramedics rushed to treat the two critical patients.

Acting Inspector Olsen said the Australian Transport Safety Bureau was following their investigation but had yet to visit the accident scene.

“They will participate and provide substantive expertise,” she said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, or those with footage of aircraft flying in the area at the time, is asked to contact police.
